Shame really...
It would have been more fun, maddening, entertaining and challenging if the world rather mirrored a dystopian system like "The Village" from "The Prisoner"...

I have always felt uneasy with that quote. If you are a prisoner, then you are patently not a free man.

BTW, Pichlo, where did you grow up?

For now, you will just have to content with it being behind the Iron Curtain. A de facto Russian colony but not part of the USSR.

A small tidbit:
Russian was a compulsory second language. The education system bashed it into my head for 9 years, through all three levels of education (school, college, university) and I absolutely hated every second of it. Russian was, after all, the language of the occupants (so I can fully understand the Afgans or Iraquis who attack British or American bases in their country - not that I agree with such extreme measures but I can understand where they come from).

Which makes it all the more interesting that I married someone whose first language was... guess what? :D

Looks like a nice simple dark theme. Not sure what is meant by multitasking will be part of phase 2. No recents option or ability to have more than one app running simultaneously? Any thoughts?

why do they make single-sim phone?

Re: Purism Librem Phone

why not? I never needed dual SIM phone. I don't want to infect my phone with company junk, I'll rathery carry two of them. And for my personal needs I don't need a 2nd SIM.

But on a serious note, I think that it's not so much just what THEY want or have in mind but also what that i.MX 8 (or 6) actually supports.

You mean what the modem support ? the CPU is separated from the modem and thus shouldn't have limitations in that regard.

The Sierra MC7455 that was shown in one of the blog post (https://puri.sm/posts/librem5-progress-report-5/) on their test bench seems to supports dual sim (at last some mode, if there are several?): https://www.sierrawireless.com/produ...oducts/mc7455/

Dual SIM single standby (DSSS) switches between networks quickly to stay connected
Obviously, I don't know what the final modem will be, until they release the developer boards (in June if everything is alright).
