You need to show that you have put *some* effort to solving your problems ....

Re: N900 daily Work in 2017?
Exchange works for me but in somewhat curious way. It only syncs automatically when it first enters the peak period at 6am, and then only when the network changes, for example from WiFi to 3G or vice versa. If I stay on WiFi all day then the first sync at 6am remains the only one. A manual sync works any time.
I had a case of Maps not starting too. The cause was a missing file .qf in MyDocs root. I overzealously deleted it thinking I would not need it. |
Re: N900 daily Work in 2017?
All I can say is that I had to diagnose a network problem a few weeks ago and had both a 7" LineageOS tablet with a USB keyboard portfolio case but I chose my N900 to diagnose the problem and then telnet in to change settings because I have no idea how to do that without spening hours hunting down a bunch of oddball android apps. The N900 is a real if impure GNU-Linux computer in your pocket. The an Android is just a fast accessory with a nice browser and a few extra sensors, especially NFC for transit card loading and reading. But I don't go out without my N900 even if it require also carrying a battery pod. I am staring down the barrel of a future where I feel I might have to build a small slider keyboard tablet from a wifi/bt Pi-zero and 3D print a case so I have a real up to date GNU/Linux pocket computer also suitable for browsing to tether to a 3g or 4g dumb phone with bluetooth.

Re: N900 daily Work in 2017?
My 2 N900s are still my only phones. Last year I developed a Python GTK habit tracking app on one of them, which I've been using faithfully since to motivate me to do stuff each day/week.
I had set my laptop up using an inotify script to synch changes to my N900 and launch the app each time I wrote one of the source files from vim. That worked pretty well for testing purposes. If I had time I would try to do more quick and dirty Python/GTK apps. |
Re: N900 daily Work in 2017?
As for me I have purchased it again after 3 & half year and still in love with it even though I Android phone for work and N9 (with Broken Screen) but this monster is the best even when playing with its system. Still and shall be the best phone ever made.
Even though N9 is amazing but will be compared to N900 ;) |
Re: N900 daily Work in 2017?
I am starting to carry my N900 around more these days, as my second phone ( i have a cheapo android phone ).
The more i use it the more i fall in love with it. I just hope the browser can handle modern webpages a bit better. |

I would suggest reading up on what tweaking can be done....to improve performance and speed.
Mozilla or google will not update, maintain, or improve upon our browsers. There is no profit in it for them any longer . Only loss. "just hoping" things will get better will net you little improvement . Disabling some things will speed things up for sure. |
