Hi,

I had registered for early update and this shows he update, but I am stuck on Optimising screen.. The optimisation just wouldn't complete no matter how may times I try.. I had restarted the machine, switched off android support, but no in vain..

Make the phone data empty as possible (copy it to a pc), that made the trick to work for me on earlier updates

Updated Jolla 1 and after reboot I got first some flickering and later blank screen (like white and dimmed a bit).

I am pretty sure it's bricked

Have you disabled everything from Patchmanager before upgrading?

Re: 2.1.0/Iijoki EA

There was an answer/comment on the release notes about Aqua Fish not being able to remove the annoying partner-space app (sailfish-content-partnerspaces-intex-gaana) after updating via command line saying "This request will break your system!".

Since this seems to have magically vanished from TJC without a trace and could be of some use to someone if it's true:
  • someone said the android app part can still be removed via the android app store
  • In my case (I've used coderus' "jolla-c-ify" script before doing anything else after receiving the device), the usual update notification appeared and I was able to update via settings. The gaana app wasn't reinstalled with the update.

Also, guys, the SDK appeared. And it's got a star trek number, yay:
http://releases.sailfishos.org/sdk/installers/1701/

Now I just have to convince my dearest that it's a very good idea for me to spend the evening at the desk.

(Unrelated to previous post, so I did a new one instead of updating.)

I'm afraid I didn't.

Late hour + an option in patchmanager to "unappy all patches on upgrade" ticked ... I thought I'm covered so this is solely my mistake.

On the bright side, I'm looking forward to test recovery mode for first time, this device has come a long way since first power on :p

That's great news, it's really important for Sailfish uphold its reputation for being lighter on resources - Sailfish can't do the Android thing where manufacturers just double the specs each year, because there aren't as many vendors shipping Sailfish devices - realistically most phones running Sailfish have either mid-range specs when new, or they are devices with flagship specs that used to run Android, which take a long time to develop working ports.

Yeah, I don't know whether it's thanks to the new Qt or because they changed some default settings, but everything is much faster now, and so far nothing has been killed by OOM even when browsing heavy web pages with 10 other applications running. It feels brand new, more than three years after launch. Let's hope they keep this up.

Did exactly the same mistake, trusted the "unappy all patches on upgrade" patch, but It didn't work :(

Update went well anyhow, but now, patch "upcoming events on lockscreen" is ticked and can't be disable and/or uninstalled ... :(

Lucky for you, I've done the same mistake a couple of times. Here are my (painful) instructions how to undo the damage:

That's funny, I had absolutely no problems with that patch. In fact I completely forgot about patches (again!) and was reminded only when that patch started automatically unloading them.

Are you sure it was enabled?

Just tried it. It works, albeit suffers from the same problem as any other selection: selecting = placing in the clipboard. Whoever came up with that idea should be hang by the ears in the draught.

And it only works in the page, not in edit boxes.

I have some serious troubles with swiping up, like the app drawer.
This happened after the update, and only effecting to my Jolla C.
My old Jolla does not have this problem....

Am i the only one having this issue?

Agree, it's one of the few things that still bugs me about Sailfish.

Edit: annoyingly, it doesn't seem possible to select text and scroll the page down at the same time, so you can only select what fits on a single screen...

Nope, me to. Seems like you really have to swipe and mean it now. :)

Thanks for confirming!

I actually like that you cannot quick swipe to close the Alarm by accident. But with the app drawer, it's really a PAIN !

Me too. This new display filter is really crap. Can't do quick swipes no more.

for me, app grid is only available from home. Swipe up in apps just scrolls if there is something to scroll through or does nothing.

Hello there,
I tried to update the normal way, the phone rebooted and I got "The update couldn't be installed. The phone will reboot now." And nothing more informative.

Any idea what could go wrong? And how to fix this?

Thanks.

I've also got some serious sound issues with calling using Android, like using Skype. The sound does not come out of the earpiece, but only when using headphones or when putting it on the speakers....
This update broke more things than it fixed :p

I run into this also with my developer phone. I cleaned browser cache and then the update worked.

I had nothing suspicous installed (although I have dev mode enebled), I saw somewhere (here or tjc, that browser cache, cookies etc. cleaning has been enough to some).

After the update I can't sync my corporate Exchange mail account....
Anyone else experiencing this issue?

UPDATE: apparently I had really changed my lock code, so I managed to use the recovery mode and now I have a shiny working Jolla with Iijoki running fanstastically :)

I leave this for reference anyway in case anyone can provide further information.

--

However when I noticed that my lock code wasn't accepted anymore I did save the data (/usr/share/lipstick/devicelock/devicelock_settings.conf and /usr/share/lipstick/devicelock/.devicelock.enc) and program ("encpartition") that Jolla uses to check the lock code, so some day when I find the time I'll have to figure out which code the Jolla "thinks" is valid. Probably not worth the effort anyway..

(If anybody knows how the lock code is hashed (I think it's combined with the IMEI and the MAC), I'd be grateful for the info).

Hi.

Thank you.

One more question: Do you know if your mail server has moved to the outlook.office365.com domain?
I deleted the account in Jolla C I now I can't recreate it anymore...

Regards.

UPDATE: Once again clumsy @pasko strikes back. Turns out I was using the wrong username to re-create the account. Now it works again 'as usual' as @pichlo said before. Sorry for the unnecessary noise... :(

omg
Shutter speed "improvement" is so so niice.
Sorry for you guys having trouble.

This update is the greatest. They improve overall performance bigly, while adding features?!? One can only dream what a team 10 or 100 times the size of Jolla could accomplish.
Finally, i am using Jolla1 again and spare the C for whatever times will come.
Jolla1 2.1 feels as good (or better) as the Jolla C with 2.0 imho.
Pitty that i have less and less time at hand. i would do benchmark update and followup to my 1.9>2.0 video. lets see.

I cannot open document attachments with 2.1.0.9

Filled a short report here: https://together.jolla.com/question/...not-be-opened/

after that the MfE gives me "sync failed" errors, but downloads new mails from time to time.

Did you notice any of those?
