During community meeting they said "Why would you fear? :) We announced the features that will be included in Sailfish 3. We never said that it will be 3.0.0! So What you will see on 3.0.0 is a start of what we are going to make available on Sailfish 3." |

Comparing the number of nuggets with good parts within SFOS? ;) And amount of water with bugs/features to solve/come? Or years to flow by? [/kind_of_sarcasm] Not that I want to use something else. |
Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices
TBH I'm quite disappointed that for the past 3 updates nothing substantial has been updated for Xperia X. No official double tap, CPU cores are still not properly utilised, not all sensors work and it still has autofocus issues. But it seems that 3.0 being released in two waves. 3.0.0.5 now and 3.0.1.0 in December which should be adding a massive QT upgrade which they claim up to 50% boost in performance.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices
Well, I just updated to SailfishX 3.0 and I'm a bit disappointed:
- Linux kernel is the old 3.10.84, dating back to July 2015 (yet Jolla patched it for the latest CVE's); - systemd 225 (dates back to August 2015), unchanged - apparently no Wayland update as well - libQt5Location is still the old 5.2.2, I bet my native GPS app (working since Sailfish 1.1) will be rejected again from Jolla Store. Most Qt5 libraries are 5.6.3 anyway. - sadly, the "known issues" list for Xperia X is basically unchanged as well. Recent kernel+systemd versions would allow native apps to run under different (temporary) "users" (isolating apps/privileges), plus a number of other system+networking related goodies. I bet Jolla guys were conservative about any change. SDK 1810 is not ready yet. |
