Yes, I think most jolla supporters have learned that the hard way when it comes to jolla. That's why we are still so happy :D

For an official thread this contains way too much off topic content.

this is not an official thread, this is thread about official sfos for xperia x :P

I have always wondered. What is an official thread created by a random user at an open forum?

So anyone of us can create an official thread for any bran/product/person around the world? To me we need an an active jolla account. Otherwise how can it be official?

If you develop an app and release it, and you create a thread about it and call it "official", then it's official.

jukk 2017-06-20 10:09

Re: Sailfish OS on Sony Xperia (official)

The thread is not official (how would that be defined? By whom?). In one sense it is official, because it isn't secret. But the Sailfish port is what is supposed to be official (announced by Jolla), not the thread. Bah, stupid comment anyway, but I'm in good company...

pexi 2017-06-20 10:47

Re: Sailfish OS on Sony Xperia (official)

Never crossed my mind that it means official distro and not official thread.

..there I was thinking who is the undercover Jolla guy here :)

I think we will know more once they release the new update which should be coming some time soon by the looks of the string translations

Re: Sailfish OS (oficially) on Sony Xperia devices

It's not targeting all but only one device unofficially officially according to jolla. I think we need to make another change(at least) to make it less deceiving.

I don't support jolla officially. But unofficially I am a supporter.

On a second thought. Forget about it. Nothing is official yet. :D

What countries have cheapest Xperia X for sale and how much would a basic phone like that cost?

5 days left .

I am still surprised that people don't put any value to their privacy but happily use Android and IOS and give their data free to big companies. Companies which make billions and even avoid paying taxes. I consider my privacy as my the most valuable thing I have. Even if I don't have any money left.

I happily loose money supporting other options so I bought used Sony Xperia X for 110 euros. Just to be ready for possible announcement.
Fanboy as I am...

Well, I guess it comes down to usability and how it makes your life easier. To be fair, no other platforms gives you easy access to the latest services. Jolla isn't an option yet and it's simply no guarantee that small companies are more secure.

Re: Sailfish OS (oficially) on Sony Xperia devices

Yeah most of the people just want to group chat with their friends and use social medias, full stop. Having an iPhone/Samsung and using whatsapp/facebook is the "normal" way to do that, they don't care about the rest (and anyway, alternatives are not usable by normal users for now)

And little off-topic question while I'm here (since there is nothing to say about the Xperia project anyway): why is juiceme Thanking 90% of the posts? Lost a bet? :D

Re: Sailfish OS (oficially) on Sony Xperia devices

I repeat the question I posted on TJC, maybe there someone here with more information or with some interest in disclosing some interesting (and believable) rumors... :-)

CITING
So, I know that the release of SFOS in Xperia X devices has been widely discussed and an announcement from Jolla is being expected by the end of June (13 days to go).

The point is....Yesterday, my Jolla C was incredibly thirsty and thought it would be a good idea to have a beer. Result of this: I can only run my Jolla C without battery and without SIM cards in it. My Jolla 1 does not work since a while, therefore I am detached from the mobile world.

Since I will have to buy a new mobile phone, I would like to ask -if someone from Jolla reads this between the lines- (that's the reason of putting this as an answer and not as a comment), if buying an Xperia X would be a good idea, or if maybe I should seek a cheap solution until the end of the month..............
END

Thanks guys :-) :-)

So they'll push the blog post to EA and make it available to the general public ~1 month later ...?

Most likely so but I would like to have information how SailfishOS is provided to Xperia X.
Can I flash my own Xperia X or do I need to by second one with preinstalled SailfishOS? :)

I hope they finalize or include tablet refund in this blog post/future Xperia X deal to get more people included and backing them instead of using android iOS.

I can happily way another year or two for sailfish for Xperia if that is needed to get the money to make Sail a fair OS again.

If they Simply don't have the money and are nowhere with 2nd refund, just planning to write a line, why add a disclaimer?

"The plan should be released in our blog in a few days"

There are are lot of "should, if, working on" in that statement.
But they promise nothing but an update on the situation

The disclaimer is in favour of the tm "soon"

PS! I do support SailfishOS. It's the only choice ATM. And works great, even on many community devices

It is sure only coincidence in timing.
But a good conspiracy theory would be jolla waiting for chen to confirm he can ship so they can offer backers the refund as a discount to the actual tablet. :D   :o

Hope not.
Why should jollas problems transfer to Chen?

Conspiracy theories:D

Then Finnish government should pay the bailout for jolla. Or the Russian government which pretty much own jolla through a hostile takeover. So in the end Putin is ultimately responsible for jolla since the board is decided by, and reports to Putin. (Which everyone can read on their www page.

Given the time they need to "draft" it, this must be a work of art. :D

I have the feeling they can say what they want. There will always be people who are not satisfied. They'll give news next week. It isn't hard to understand. This will still be in time for what they told us.

Sure, I also can't wait to see what they will release. But on the other side we're complaining if they tell us too much before and do not reach their goal. If they tell us nothing before, we're also complaining.

It would have been better for them not telling us about Xperia and launching it unannounced. Surprise!

Let's see what time brings and let's complain later when there's some reason for it.

A professor of me once taught us what he learned after moving from northern Germany to the rhine area:

When he ordered printing of his scripts he got a delivery date confirmed by the printer. On the day the scripts were due he went to the printer to pick up his printed scripts. However, he only got a vague explanation about other more urgent matter and a new date of delivery.

What he learned was, that the first scheduled date is an optimistic estimation of a day where the printer expected to be able to name a more reliable date of delivery.

After the professor has learned this lesson he had quite a relaxed living in the rhine area.

Maybe one of the Jolla guys once lived in the rhine area ...

No, it simply isn't. Unless they release it next week (unlikely, unless I read the Jolla Statement wrong) they don't meet their announced time target (release to customers by the end of Q2/2017). Imagine a supplier who announced to deliver by the end of June comes to you one week before the due date and says: "Come on, don't be so impatient, I will tell you something next week anyways." Even if this comparison is flawed - for me todays statement is one more proof that they are unable to communicate professionally to the community.

The people who are not satisfied are a minority by now. The big majority has turned their backs to Jolla and Sailfish a long time ago. The minority who is dissatisfied has every reaason to be so. There were so many setbacks in the last few years. I don't think I need to mention them, but missed timelines and bad communication to the community was an issue in most of them.

A week is nothing. We have soon waited 3 years. THREE years so I guess we can handle a week.

I'm not intressted in buying anything next week unless I'm a lucky random Refund winner in game of ...

Yeah. A week is nothing. They could atleast said a month. That would have been more of a challenge:D
