Thanks. I added the repos with ssu ar, and there doesn't seem to be a way to force them to be global. Adaptation0 and adaptation1 get mangled, they are OK in /etc/ssu/ssu.ini but ssu repos lists them as

Jolla have stated that since 2.1.3.7 is only released for early adopters regular Sailfish X users have to wait until 2.1.3 is released to all to get the update OTA.

Thanks for this info :)

My J1 just had a crack on the screen (but it's working fine for now). I think I'll need to change my phone sooner than I was expecting, so I'm trying to make up all the news I missed in the Maemo/Sailfish world since last year, and I'm looking at the Xperia which is the best (only?) available option to buy right now.

If I understand what I read, only the dual-sim has 64GB flash and a micro-sd slot ? I don't need 2 sims (I have only one contract), but I'd really prefer 64GB and a micro-sd slot.

What are the tweaks needed to make the dual-sim run with Sailfish X ? Are there any statements about planning to bring official support for the dual-sim version ?

Yes and No:
Yes, only the Dual-Sim has 64 GB
No to: only the Dual-Sim has Micro-SD Slot. That's also there on the normal one.

That's a pretty good reason not to make it official! Noted and inaccurate post deleted...

Without the tweak, mine only recognized one SIM card and now after the update it only shows one SIM at the top. Before the update it showed an empty signal bar for the second potential SIM card.

After update I had to modify again

/default.prop
by adding
Code:

    persist.multisim.config=dsds
    persist.radio.multisim.config=dsds
    ro.telephony.default_network=9,1

As far as I remember,
/etc/ofono/ril_subscription.conf

had kept the modifications in update,

For me, F5122 recognized the 1st SIM without any modification.

Quite a bit of work went into all this. ;)

OSM Scout Server
modRana
Poor Maps

I got an OSM Scout Server, modRana installed. Linked offline maps to an SD card (ext4 formatted) location with few downloaded maps. Set modRana to use OSM Scout Server as map source. Just not getting anything on the modRana screen (white background with marker in the center). In modRana, under options->Map it shows the following path:
/home/nemo/.local/share/harbor-modrana/maps. Should that be changed to point to the actual sd card location e.g. /media/sdcard/<Card_ID>/Maps.OSM? If so, can someone tell me how (softlink etc)?
Thanks very much...

The path shown in modRana should correspond to the cache of modRana. So, that can stay as it is.

Sounds like you don't get connection between modRana and OSM Scout Server. If you haven't enabled automatic start of OSM Scout Server, you would have to run OSM Scout Server in the background. For debugging purposes, start OSM Scout Server, minimize it, and open modRana again. Wait a bit and, if you don't get any maps, then go back
to OSM Scout Server and check the logs. If the connection works, it should display few access requests on the main screen.

Note that there is a user manual that may help you to set it up with modRana or Poor Maps: https://rinigus.github.io/osmscout-server/en/

Note 2: at this moment, if I remember correctly, released modRana does not support default router in OSM Scout Server. The corresponding patch has been merged to modRana code, but its not released yet (I hope I followed the releases).

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

My Xperia X experienced its first unexpected reboot since October 11. I had quite a number of native apps running (including music and camera), GPS collecting data, wifi off, but I don't think I was actually stressing the phone.

And yes, there was a wobbly gobbly 4G coverage. I think it's the cause of the unexpected reboot (that is: blame Sony drivers, not SailfishX), because it happened at least 4-5 times in its few Android weeks, even when without open apps, always when there was a bad/wiggling 4G signal. I guess it's a random and rare thing because I often wander around some bad cell coverage areas.

Thanks for helping. Turns out that the <Card_ID> folder under the sdcard is owned by root, same group too. I had to change that to the nemo user/group. After that I could create a directory on the sdcard, using FileCase (must've created it from the shell before). Though, now seems that OSM Scout server is not able to retrieve a list of countries for map downloading. It comes up with a "Timeout" error. Though, it works just fine, when the map folder is under /home/nemo/Maps.OSM. I am lost :confused:

The server data.modrana.org is down for the last 2.5 hours. In general, according to uptimerobot, its up 99% of the time. This time, since its a research institution behind data.modrana.org, I wouldn't expect it to be back before Monday, unfortunately.

I hear a lot of hissing in audio playback, be it on a Youtube video or within the media player. Is this SFOS or a problem with the port?

Could be my ears are just wooden bricks no good for nuthin' execpt decoration, since I think the audio quality is quite good. (at least via Jabra and JBL bluetooth headphones, have not tested the audio jack itself...)

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I don't prefer BT headphones, and i guess that would be different. I am particular about sound (my main audio player is a Cowon Plenue 1), but have no problems with the occasional audio from my phone (especially the N900 which sounds great). But the Xperia with SFOS sounds pretty bad with all the hiss during quiet parts. Anyone else have this problem?

The ssh service is only enabled if the "Developer Mode" is enabled and in the Developer Tools menu of the Settings you enable the Remote Connection thing and set a password.

Then you can ssh via wifi at the specified wifi address (or USB address if you use the "Developer Mode" USB connection), something like:

ssh nemo@192.168.5.93

Fun fact: if your Linux box has a ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub text file, you can append its contents to /home/nemo/.ssh/authorized_keys file (it has to be chmod 600 - that is, only readable/writeable to "nemo") such that you can ssh to Sailfish without being asked for the password.

This allows nice things like executing SailfishOS commands and using their output on your Linux box - say,
Code:

ssh nemo@xperia /bin/df | grep ' /home' | awk '{print $4 / 1000, "Mb"}'
to get the free space on the home partition (note that grep and awk are executed on your Linux box), without human interaction.

I enjoy using that trick to send SMS messages from command-line on my Linux box, something like sending every morning (via a systemd.timer) an automated message:
Code:

sms Boss Plz I only have `/bin/df | grep dev.sdb2 | awk '{print $4 / 1000, "Mb"}'` megs left, I need a new hard disk ASAP.

INFO: <Time stamp> libpostal will use all covered languages

Its not your problem yet, but please select languages as shown in https://rinigus.github.io/osmscout-s...languages.html . Maybe X can handle it, but its possible that on search you'll be using 1-2GB databases in RAM. Selection of languages will reduce it to make it possible to use on J1 already (otherwise you try to parse every search in 80 languages!). So, it is very much recommended to select languages for parsing.

According to your log, modRana is not contacting OSM Scout Server. Please start OSM Scout Server and configure modRana to access it - see https://rinigus.github.io/osmscout-s...n/modrana.html

Please, after configuration, test by:

* first open OSM Scout Server
* next open modRana and try to move around

Had this when Sailfish update went wrong, pretty sure that I had to use Emma on Windows to recover device unfortunately and then re-flash Sailfish.
