3.1.0.11 EA online
Just updated my X

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

I was really hoping for the new QT version being released with the hinted 50% boost in speed of UI.

I have found that some animations in 3.1.0.11 EA are a bit laggy and stutter

So if XA2 out of beta, they'll start fully working on xperia 10?

I don't think something big awaits X. It will be the way it is.

PS When are they gonna drop JollaPhone support already?

I hope not soon. I still use Jolla 1 and don't want to change it. I really like size of this phone. I have Jolla C but it's too big for me.

It drags Jolla to support it, imho.
I only wonder how many bugs they have to kill each release because of btrfs quirks.

PS Would be way better if they dropped it and instead of XA2 used XZ2 compact, but alas.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

I am with atlochowski. Partly for personal reasons (same as his), but mostly because an OS that used to work on Device A and then stopped without any low level layers changing is a sign of either a bad regression (and thus needs to be fixed with topmost priority) or a bad design in the first place.

Has anyone found the solution for getting WhatsApp to see the gallery folder on the Xperia XA2? This works fine on the X but not on the XA2 :(

On Xperia X I use Simple Gallery to allow me to pick recent photos.

Bundyo 2019-07-26 11:23

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

I also use Simple Gallery - one of the best gallery apps - no ads and doesn't re-scale photos before showing.

Store pictures to internal memory and not to memory card, and then Whatsapp can find them.

No, but you can probably share them to WhatsApp from the gallery. I'm not using WhatsApp, ao I don't really know if this will work.

I doubt that at this point they do anything other than basic testing to make sure it at least boots on their Jolla-branded devices. There is no updated kernel, no updated Android compatibility layer, no updated Bluetooth middleware, etc. They introduced a bug on the Jolla Tablet something like three years ago where you can't take any screenshots anymore and it was never fixed, which means that either it's an easy fix which hasn't been implemented because they aren't spending any time to support it, or it's a difficult fix which cannot be implemented without causing numerous other bugs on other devices, which would then also need to be fixed, so they haven't implemented it because they don't go out of their way to support their older products. Either way, the point is, their focus is clearly on the XA2 and future devices.

It does work, but you'll need this to share from Sailfish to Android.

Simple Gallery is an Android app, why would it need that? :)

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

I just purchased an XA2 over the weekend. I installed the 3.1 update on to the reset device without issue.

I went to openrepos.net and downloaded and installed the Storeman rpm. I then opened it and searched for some applications to install. I added the necessary repos, but I wasn't given an install option afterwards. I tried to install just the rpm (like I JUST had done with the Storeman rpm...), but it failed.

I then did a "pkcon refresh" in terminal and now I can install rpm files again, but still no install option from Storeman on added repos.

What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it? Searched high and low, and I can't get it solved on my own. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thank you so much for this. I saw about the issues with Storeman after the 3.0 update, but somehow missed all these issues after 3.1. I wasn't specific enough in my search, I guess.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Sucesfully flashed the "free trial" build of SailfishX to a XA2 Ultra last night. Was immediately at version 3.1. Bought the the license from the Jolla shop five hours ago. Still can't see any licensed content in the Jolla Store (No exchange, No android support, no nothing.)

Double checked that the charge went through on my card. I've rebooted the phone multiple times. Ive logged in and out of my Jolla account on the phone multiple times. Done a "pkcon refresh" multiple times.

How long is this supposed to take?

ljo 2019-07-31 15:13

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

@trashHeap did you also double check that you bought a license for XA2 Ultra, since the license products are not interchangeable. Bought a license for XA2 on new year's eve and ended up with buying an XA2 Plus device ...
Otherwise chech with jollacare what happened.

Just smashed the crappy replacement screen on my X, seriously considering going back to a dumbphone as there will never be a rugged phone with an alternate OS.

anyone found the alarm going of for no reason?

we were woken up at 2:30am this morning for no apparent reason by the alarm (SFOS3.1 / XA2 Plus).

I don't have any active alarms (and none set for 2:30am!), and there was nothing in the calendar that might have been an event due for notification.

No unwanted alarms here, but on XA2 many unexpected things happening. Just now camera would not start, required reboot. Some Android apps won't start, restarting Android layer helps most of the times, but sometimes only a reboot.

About the camera: is the screen supposed to be 25% black for both cameras? I think it should only be for the front camera. The black will go away when choosing movie mode for both cameras. Taking a picture will however lead to a full size photo.

Interestingly Miracucam app. upon XA2 just apportions the blank area differently.

In settings|apps|camera you can set aspect ratio. @4:3 you'll have whatever you call the opposite of letterboxing.

Some bug still there (also for Jolla C) after reflash/upgrading.
Just go once to the camera settings and done.

Yes we've had that too. Really annoying if your phone is in another room with your children sleeping in the room next ot it.
It came back twice. I think it has to do with Signal messenger update notifications. I had been looking all over the phone but it only stopped when tipping those notifications. They seem to be classified wrong. Normal Signal notifications don't do that.

And Signal stuff (or android notifiactions in general? ) seems to get not their specific icon but a "exclamation mark on blue button" with XA2. The X is not doing that, both icon and alarm.
