Can confirm this works if you download the script.

Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus5 based on CM13 alpha release

I upgraded OTA from 2.1.1.26 to 2.1.2.3 and after some time of using it, system hangs, yellow led started to blink and I had to reboot.

On 2.1.1.26 tethering script is working, but on Windows 10 I had to add Sailfish network manually (control panel>network...).

How to disable cameras on Nexus5, like in this thread: https://together.jolla.com/question/...#post-id-71139 ?

For me, my Nexus5 does not find any hotspots that are using wifi channel 13 (actually used are then the channels 11 til 13). Does anyone else have the same problem?

to disable back camera:
Code:

chmod 600 /dev/video1
to disable front camera
Code:

chmod 600 /dev/video2
chmod 660 to enable again.

Thanks...could you even find a way to record videos? Many of us consider the camera an useful tool :D

Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus5 based on CM13 alpha release

I wiped my Nexus 5, put in the provided CM13 and SFOS on top of it, using standard TWRP (ignoring sensors issue for now) without multiboot. SFOS starts up, but no Wifi. I just install that CM13 image and boot up--also no working Wifi. I noticed the install wrote on the radio bits, so down to fastboot and reflashed those to the latest, but that didn't help, either.

What am I doing wrong which breaks Wifi? :-(

@mautz

is there any chance that we get your kernel also for the latest SFOS version? Btw. is that a 3.10 kernel?

The kernel can be used on any Sailfish version if you flashed one of my 2.1.1.x builds.

To check if you can use the kernel, just do a
Code:

ls /lib/modules
if a folder with the name 3.4.0-g88c1d3c shows up, you're good to go.

Sorry, i still forgot to write a guide to use all the features i implemented.

Kernel is 3.4, currently there is no newer kernel available and probably never will be due to the qualcomm drivers have never been updated for newer kenels for the Nexus5.

Yes, hardware is known good on both original Google OS and even Firefox OS. After install of this CM13 SFOS, Wifi is hosed.

But even more interesting, I've now reflashed (fastboot flash) boot/bootloader/radio/userdata/cache/system/recovery back to that same FxOS (the one which worked) and now its Wifi is hosed, too.

So what does that leave? My memory is there a /persist with stuff which survives all of this? Is there some content there which the install has stepped upon? I looked in there and wifi/.macaddr seems OK, is there some other files which SFOS has messed with?

Thanks for the info.

I just stumbled upon this (not sure if of any use):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...ernel-t3077596 with github repo at https://github.com/Electrex/Electroactive-N5

and

Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus5 based on CM13 alpha release

@vandys
I don't know what you are doing. The CM13 is an nearly untouched Cyanogenmod 13 image. The only thing that is different, is that i removed a check before install to prevent errors on some configuration. So, if wifi doesn't work with this image, it is nothing Sailfish related.

@bomo

The android_kernel_msm which is based on 3.10 was never completed and doesn't even compile, work on it is deprecated. The Electroactive kernel just uses 3.10 as name for his kernel, so his next release could be 3.10 or 4.00 or whatever...

Honest, I just went into TWRP, cleared the partitions, install'ed the CM13 zip, then SFOS after it, then rebooted.

I think this is where things start going south:

<4>[ 1.799839] wifi_get_mac_addr
<3>[ 1.799911] bcm_wifi_get_mac_addr: Failed to get information from file /persist/wifi/.macaddr (-2)
<6>[ 1.799986] [bcm_wifi_get_mac_addr] Exiting. MAC 00:90:4C:51:3F:7F

I tried chmod'ing access in /persist and /persist/wifi and /persist/wifi/.macaddr, but same message. Is there some SElinux thing biting me here?

The downstream failure is:

<4>[ 15.400984] failed to power up wifi chip, retry again (4 left) **

and so forth.

Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus5 based on CM13 alpha release

Can you read the file /persist/wifi/.macaddr? Does wifi still work in Android?

Which partitions have you cleared?

.macaddr, yes, 6 bytes. And when I adb shell on, I can use ip link to see that this address is not on the interface.

And no, whatever happened, affects across a total re-install.
I've cleared and re-written boot/bootloader/radio/cache/userdata/system/recovery. Android is broken by whatever happened during the SFOS install, even after SFOS/CM13 are completely replaced.

Which is why I'm focusing on /persist, it's the only thing I know of which hasn't been replaced in its entirety.

3.10 kernel for nexus 5 it does exist, and It does work, but not enough to use daily, for example it doesn't run off the battery and a bunch of other stuff doesn't work, and development stopped some time ago.

Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus5 based on CM13 alpha release

i get a hell of a battery drain. the phone does.not sleep at all. i check it with mce-tool. now i installed systemdatascope and am collecting data.

4g does not work for me. when i turn it to 3g it works great.
bluetooth does not work i don't need it so no worries i just disabled it.
when i restat the device it turns on 4g connection also it restores defaults for apn. is there a fix for these issues?

oh also when i restart the device it changes it's mac address. although it's nice for security it's a pain in the *** for me. i have some restrictions on my router based on mac address and everytime i restart the device i have to change firewall settings on my router too. it would be cool if sailfish had a setting for this behaviour.

Have you tried reinstalling SFOS and CM? Only a few people experienced the MAC address problem. For the APN problem there is a solution under the Known Issues section in the first post. How did you disable Bluetooth?

I'll try reinstall. I had 2 nexus 4 one of which always had the same issue with mac changing on every reboot. I was not able to fix it.
When it changes mac address it always asks for my WiFi password and it adds second time my wifi, then third time and so on. I think this issues are related to each other. Becaus my second nexus 4 did not change mac address and did not ask wifi password on every reboot.

I disabled bluetooth with these commands.

systemctl stop bluetooth.service
systemctl stop hciattach.service
systemctl mask bluetooth.service
systemctl mask hciattach.service

mcetool gives
uptime: 14713.785
suspend_time: 0.000

i am not sure how to use systemdatascope to find out which process is preventing device from sleep. could you help me with that?

SystemDataScope doesn't allow you to find which process is blocking the sleep. I haven't written such functionality for collectd => no stats to show. Its probably possible, but would require significant effort to do it.

You would have to follow wakelocks and see which wakelock(s) persist. In N4, wakelocks are described in /proc/wakelocks . On newer devices, it was somewhere else.

Its a while when I have been looking into it, so I can give you general pointers with you filling in the blanks. I would suggest to start searching wakelocks and android, ignore most of xda stating that this wakelock was bad, and just finding out which it is in your case. If its MCE (or similar), it comes from SFOS with some of the programs preventing sleep and not releasing the handle.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tips! I will try reinstalling SFOS and then if i will have the same problem with battery drain i will inspect wakelocks

Is this bad right?

what does it mean in your app? 0% is bad or good in sleep graph?

It shows that your phone except for the two spikes is not sleeping. Is the charger connected? Which apps are you running, since you have a very high cpu load. To measure if sleep is working turn the phone on with no running applications and check the sleep stats after ten minutes with mce or SystemDataScope.

Regarding the Mac problem, is everything fine when you use Android?

@rinigus

On the N5 wakelocks are shown at /sys/kernel/debug/wakeup_sources

I am not using the phone and there is nothing running on it. In 2 hours i'll be home and i will just reinstall.

Mac is static on every reboot in android.

I want to quickly resolve these issues, because like this post says, it seems it's possible to run Aliendalvik on device running CM13 as base.

this device uses CM13 base and video shows that Aliendalvik is working. We just do not know if video recording and sound work without problem.

According to your graphs:

phone is awake (0% sleep). As mentioned above by @mautz, it maybe due to the charger. Was it charging when you recorded the stats?

As far as I can see, load is low (it uses the smallest available CPU frequency with 3 out of 4 CPUs switched off - hence total CPU usage is 25%)

The Moto X Force uses a 3.10 kernel, the N5 uses the older 3.4 kernel. So maybe on the 3.10 kernel AlienDalvik from JollaC or SailfishX are working, which use the same kernel.
