Rules are as usual: Photos must be taken during this month (after theme is announced) Photos must be taken by the posting member Photos must be taken with a camera phone Users post only one photo per entry Users can change the entry only once Users must name the phone they used |

Wow, HDR much :D

Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
all photographers amateur or professional would have at some point this "hole" in their learning curve, called HDR :)

Here is the obligatory picture of my daughter ice skating. Taken at 08:51 on Sunday, 4 June 2017 by Nokia N900 and cropped on the phone.
Attachment 39382 Sorry about the low quality. "Sports" is a particularly challenging topic for most mobile phone cameras. I have five phones but only two of them are usable, one N900 and one Jolla. The Jolla's camera is crap and absolutely useless for taking pictures of movement. Even the almighty N900 was struggling in the poor light of the ice rink but I did not have a choice. |

Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
Guys, I'd like to hear some opinions... Could a frame of a video be a valid entry? I am asking because I ended with a video while thinking that I was shooting two pictures... You know, the camera was in videomode and I did not realize until the subject was out of reach.

Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
I recognize that the"sports"thing isn't clear... Can you see the carabiner ? :D But I just realize that there are few minutes left and it will be a shame choose the theme and stay out.. So, here we go.

Quite late to the party this time.
My poor 808 was driven over by a bus :( But you may have guessed, I cannot live without one now. Taken with my brand new Nokia 808 Pureview ;): TUM Campuslauf https://testem.duckdns.org/Images/20...Campuslauf.jpg |

Last 6 hours, ladies and gentlemen!
|
Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
Am I late?..
Okay, 5+ hours should be enough to take a photograph of the nearest ping-pong table. |
Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
We are late already. The last three days of the month were supposed to be reserved for voting and they started yesterday. But it is not nice to close the gate without a notice, even though everyone knew when the gate was going to close.
About 4 hours left :) |
Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
Edit - ops ! I close the gate before pichlos deadline... So, hurry up people. You have some minutes !
Time for voting... Mine goes to 1 tomislav... Even with HDR Tomislav - iphone https://talk.maemo.org/attachment.ph...1&d=1496500100 Pichlo - n900 https://talk.maemo.org/attachment.ph...2&d=1496563564 Saponga - zenfone 2 https://www.dropbox.com/s/rh1ets1375...04929.jpg?dl=1 Imaginaryenemy - 808 http://i.imgur.com/LGszmIA.jpg Rm250j - nexus 4 https://www.dropbox.com/s/k6v7qjlq1d..._0014.JPG?dl=1 Catbus - n9 ? http://huispaus.ucs.fi/tmp/17060023.jpg Macros -808 https://testem.duckdns.org/Images/20...Campuslauf.jpg |
Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
no sports for me this moth.
Voting for Imaginaryenemy - 808 |
Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
Thanks, mosen, for compiling the entries, even though it was about two hours before my deadline :) It was completely arbitrary so please do not feel bound by it.
I will try to "do a juiceme" and write up a brief opinion on each entry. Tomislav - iphone A great first entry, perfectly matching the topic. The sense of movement is absolutely palpable. Nice dramatic colours, with the storm clouds looming at the background. Or is it just the HDR playing tricks? Not so keen on the fuzzy middle section. Is it a haze or just a dirty lens? Pichlo - n900 As mentioned in my post, the quality could be better. Still, the movement is clear and the level of detail is not as bad as I was expecting due to the very poor light conditions. Juiceme will no doubt complain about a "small size". As I said numerous times, blame the TMO picture uploader. Saponga - zenfone 2 Nice photo in its own right. I like panorama pictures. I am a bit less convinced how well it fits the topic. Yes, I can see the carabine but I am still not 100% convinced. Imaginaryenemy - 808 I see you have taken the easy way out and merely hinted on the sports theme by taking a picture of some sporting equipment. Nothing wrong with the picture itself. Lovely colours and the level of detail is astonishing. But you would expect that with the camera you used. I would give it a second place because of no movement. Rm250j - nexus 4 Another easy way out with no actual sport involved. Like the previous one, the picture still fits the loose description of the theme but I must say I did feel cheated to some extent. A completely irrational feeling. I like the drama in the picture and the unspoken question it poses. Is the canoe resting after a race or is it just waking up and getting ready for one? The sand patches on the hull suggest the former: it looks like it has just recently been taken out of the water. I would give this entry a third place. Catbus - n9 ? If it were up to me, I would disqualify this entry, despite your feeble and transparent attempt to make it fit the topic with your comment. But I will leave it to others to be their own judges. Otherwise the picture itself is perfectly fine and would do well as a generic stock photo for some editorial about the weather or environment. Macros -808 Back to the sports theme again. The first thing that stroke me was the colours. A very nice richness of them. The second thing that stroke me was, "what the **** is going on in this picture?" I had to enlarge it to see. But once I did, the result was worth it. I find the trees in the foreground a bit distracting. The picture worked for me the best when zoomed in and cropped, with only hints of the trees visible in the top two corners. And finally, my verdict. My vote goes to... tomislav! Despite the smudged centre, the picture IMO represents the topic the best, with nice colours, level of detail and some added drama in the form of the gathering clouds. |
Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
I want to vote for Pichlo because:
- That's one of the 2 pics that actually shows people doing sports; - tomislav's picture is great, but it's from an i-prefix-device... (sorry) - Pichlo's has his famous daughter!! :D |
Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
My vote goes to Saponga
Quote:
I could have cropped it further to the area between the trees, but two things kept me from it. First I love how much is going on at this moment, some of it would be lost and second: The Bananas! Bonus picture which shows the surroundings. Even more is happening there, but the angle seems so odd that I preferred the one I handed in. |
Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
I must admit, I loved the bananas in your picture. But I would still have sacrificed them for a better composition.
|
Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
I vote #2. Pichlo
(... and Yes. My camera is still N9, forgot to mention and i also think that my picture should disqualify.) |
Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
Saponga has my vote!
Just to remind those of you that seem to be unsure of what the theme was, I'll post it again here ;) Quote:

Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
So ok
My picture was very "of unusual sport activities". But hey... I live here between nothing... Try to understand... Thanks ;) |

Voting for ImaginaryEnemy. Pichlo and Rm250j are close, though (wish more people were moving in the ice rink, half of them are standing? and camera on the canoe is a bit distracting, and where are the oars?). And I am lately fascinated with grass, so...

Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
Good ones here. I'd say Tomislav's pic is the best even though i wouldn't use the phone it was taken with.

The reason is that it was a skating class and the standing people were either instructors or students listening. The ice rink opens early, I believe at 07:00 or 07:30, with the professional skaters starting first. Then go classes - highest first at 08:30, then medium, beginners last. The rink opens to public at 10:00. There are 8 entry levels, followed by Bronze, Silver and Gold, followed by some national programme for those who want to go professional. My daughter in the picture is at level Gold. My other daughter is at level 5. |
Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
My vote is for Imaginaryenemy and the "baseball left behind".
Wish I'd entered this month. I'd hoped to get a pic of someone biking or fishing along the local bike and hike trail, but I was a little nervous to stop and take a photo given that I'm the target demographic for a serial killer along the trail. At least I'm not walking a dog -- apparently that's the kiss of death. <Shudder>. |
Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
My pick is Macros
but I was very tempted by the venerable n900 foto by Pichlo and must acknowledge the beauty in Tomislav's work |
Re: Camera phone competition June 2017: Sports
Ok... I'm afraid we have 2 winners this month. tomislav and imaginaryenemy with 3 votes each. Congratulations! We hope you could agree on the next month's theme. Thank you all, photographers and voters !!!
