I know very little about shipping therefore any ignorance I apologise.
If Nokia shipped by road to maximise profits would it not be reasonable to assume that it wouldn't be in the UK/at retailers...

MPD have over 500 orders for the N900 and realistically speaking, they couldn't ship all of them in one day.
Therefore delivery will be staggered over 2-3 days from the 17th based on a first come...

They are shipping on the 16th so if your order is within the first batch it should be with you on the 17th.
