Re: What's your job?

I'm a maintenance technician in a semiconductor fab. I maintain and repair the machines in an area called chemical vapor deposition (the process of growing an insulating layer of silicon between...

Re: Changing the default background folder

That's exactly what I've been looking for. Now my images folder is nice and clean and I can't accidentally delete the images or .desktop files when connected to my computer. Thanks querty12.

Re: problems with file manager

It sounds like the file is marked read-only. You can either connect your N900 to your computer and delete it from there, or you will need to remove the read-only attribute using the "chmod" command...

Re: Calendar launching by itself?

This is a known bug. If you have your calendar set to automatically delete entries older than _____, the calendar will automatically open at 4:00am every morning. See here...

Re: Solution: N900 Charging from dumb power sources

I looked at that too, but when I emailed the manufacturer (Boxwave) to find out if it was a standard extension cable with the data pins shorted I got some crazy answer that it has "a special circuit...

Re: Changing the default background folder

Great idea. It does help clean up when browsing with the file manager since the .desktop files are hidden, but they still show up when connected to my computer. I'll probably use that for now, but...

Changing the default background folder

Rather than leaving all of my background images and associated .desktop files in the Images folder, I would like to create a subfolder called Backgrounds and move them all there. But when I do, they...

Re: Making folders and menaging icons

Awesome! I think I see what I did wrong. I'm still having trouble getting my "applications.directory" type files correct, though. Any chance of publishing your "bb_apps.directory" file?

Re: Making folders and menaging icons

Yeah, I did the same thing. I still haven't figured out exactly what went wrong, though. Could someone who edited their menu successfully please post their "hildon.menu" file so I can see how it...

Re: Question about Nokia's charger

It's normal for it to be a little high under no-load conditions, but that's way too high. You might have a defective charger. Mine read 6.16VDC (OEM) and 7.22VDC (aftermarket, rated 6.5VDC ideal). I...

Re: [Life Hack] Make Tablet work as additional PC screen

Excellent!! I had asked about the possibility of something like this a while back, but never got exactly what I was looking for. Now I finally have an excuse not to throw out my otherwise unused 770....

Re: Omweather Settings

A couple of things to try:

First, try setting the time that the data is valid larger than the update frequency. That way if for some reason it can't update exactly on time it will continue to show...

Re: Removing Apps - and suggested replacements

Short answer: No. Long answer: Yes, but only with great difficulty and risk. The programs really don't take up that much space, but if you find yourself bumping the upper limit of your available...

Install "Irreco (http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15919)". You'll need an external IR blaster.

Internet Tablet As Computer Monitor?

This is something I had thought of a while back, but with a couple of recent news articles I've been thinking of it again.
