Re: Nokia won't repair my US N900 because I live in Canada

I don't think that's the case - I strongly suspect that Nokia USA and Nokia Canada are subsidiaries of the same company. I think the situation is more akin to going down to futureshop and buying an...

Re: PR 1.3 LITTLE changes with HUGE DISAPPOINT!!!

I was at a conference lately and the gtalk videoconferencing on the n900 was super useful to me. I was able to video chat with my wife and daughter over the conference wifi without having to haul...

Re: N900 in Canada (Toronto)

I'm in Montreal, using Rogers, and I have an N900 - it works fine, but at EDGE speeds... I have wifi most places, and I can live with EDGE when I'm not on wifi... 3G would be nice, but it hasn't...

Re: What is your main mobile browser?

I'm a bit torn here - I tend to switch between firefox and microb a fair bit - depending on what I'm doing... Microb is noticably faster and lower memory --- but I like the fact in firefox that I...

Re: Quick email question

claws is actually in the extras-devel repo for the n900 --- unfortunately it doesn't seem very stable - I set it up for my work account, and it seemed ok initially, but after 2 or 3 uses it now...

Re: MeeGo forum? (maemo.org round)

Hmmmm --- I guess I haven't been around long enough to be as cynical about it... I like the fact that you can have a bunch of different 'solutions', and then have people vote on it...

As I was...

Re: MeeGo forum? (maemo.org round)

I have some ideas about this... but a question first...

Wouldn't this be a good thing to post as a brainstorm? We have a collection of suggestions both in the OP, and in some of the replies...

Converting google talk IDs into email addresses?

I've had an N900 for a couple of weeks now, and generally love it - However, there is one annoyance I have with the contacts app.

For most of my google talk contacts, their google talk ID is also...

Re: MeeGo a whole new Linux ballgame

I strongly suspect that they haven't said because they don't know... It's still early days yet, and obviously the primary goal of meego is for future handsets, but there's definitely value to Nokia...

Re: [Under consideration] Undelayed bugfix releases for Nokia (OSS) packages.

I've worked in commercial software development for a long time as both a developer and now a product manager, and this approach is workable, although it is a bit more work.

the product I've been...

Re: JAVA on the N900 is possible!

@floweih

That's a midlet - so you need a J2ME (Java Mobile Edition) environment to run it in.

What is being discussed here is a J2SE (Java Standard Edition) environment.

I'm not sure what...

Re: Do you miss your old phone??

I came to the N900 from an OpenMoko Freerunner... And I can definitely say I don't miss my old phone at all! The N900 may have it's quirks, but it's a better phone and OS stack in pretty much...

Re: N900 DOSbox - no number keys?

Re: N900 DOSbox - no number keys?

mount c /home/user/dos
c:

in it.

Re: Nokia N900 in Canada (Montreal)

yeah, I ordered mine off newegg.ca - delivery took a little over a week, which was a little frustrating, but I'm pretty happy with the device. I'm on rogers, and the 2.5g performance isn't that bad...
