Re: [Maemo 5] Lynx for Maemo or N900?

It's in the extras-devel repository. I'm not brave enough to permanently add it, so one way is to get the package from here...

Re: Impossible to unlock screen during conversation

To Whom It May Interest:

... sigh... I think it was just me holding the terminal sideways, with a finger or two covering the proximity sensor :o

Re: N900 Screen Shots?

I know this is an old reply, but I do think this key combination is not that easy to do... the keyboard is meant to be a thumbboard!

Re: What % of used rootfs with a brand new N900?

Do you know of any good (short) article/reference that explains why rootfs must be so small with a 32GB SSD? I'm puzzled...

What % of used rootfs with a brand new N900?

Has anyone managed to keep excitment under control and look up this fact before installing any applications? After installing one small (proably non-optified) package df returned 68% for rootfs. Is...

Re: I no longer have the History feature in the N900 browser...

That did it, baksiidaa! Thank you very much! I must ask... how on earth did you figure it out?

craftyguy, I didn't mean visual history but rather URL (text) listing. I don't find that feature so...

I no longer have the History feature in the N900 browser...

Please help! I deleted every bookmark that came with the N900 to start fresh... Before then I would get URL suggestions as I was typing based on my browsing history, but this no longer happens. Does...

Just want to make sure it before ordering it... I can't find it in any offline store to try it (in Spain)!

Thanks a lot!

Re: Why is basic offline geotagging not possible with the N900?

Thanks for the replies. I'm sorry for the confusing title... I failed at trying to summarize my doubts in one line. I must say I’m just doing my homework. I should get an N900 unit in a week, so I’m...

Why is basic offline geotagging not possible with the N900?

Greetings! I was disappointed to read in the N900 user's manual that "You need an internet connection to be able to add geotag information to your files." Is this in fact the case? Why doesn't the...

Re: Do most armel.deb packages run in the N900 unmodified?

Thanks! Slightly off the topic... can I bypass installing rootsh by setting the root password with

sudo passwd root

and then simply typing

sudo dpkg -i package.deb?

I'd like to avoid...

Re: Do most armel.deb packages run in the N900 unmodified?

I wonder how you know that. That is, how can you browse the contents of "http://repository.maemo.org fremantle/tools free non-free"?

Thanks again.

Do most armel.deb packages run in the N900 unmodified?

Greetings! I'd like to get an N900 and install plenty of open-source tools, such as screen, ed and curl. I see armel.deb packages available at http://repository.maemo.org/pool/fremantle/free/ but not...

Re: Will good ol' ed be available?

Thanks for this! As you can see, I'm utterly unfamiliar with all things related to maemo. I must confess my sudden interest comes from drooling over the N900. Now it's time to start saving!

Cheers!

Re: Will good ol' ed be available?

I would surely do that; I'm not about to make default ed inclusion in 2009 my life call. Could you (or anybody else) point me in that right direction if I wanted to do that. I guess I should find...

Re: Will good ol' ed be available?

Thanks to all for the replies. Is it possible to replace the default BusyBox with a more feature-rich binary (instead of adding individual binaries, say for ed)? Do you need to be a grown-up hacker...

Will good ol' ed be available?

To spare some of you some writing, I know this is a rather pointless, freakish question, but does anybody know 1) whether the N900 includes BusyBox by default and if so 2) whether the BusyBox build...
