Think you have just missed out on the $150 mail in rebate offer at Buy.com. That would have brought it down below $799 IIRC.

What version are you looking at ? XP/Vista ?

"Seeing" Google Calendar in what looks like an offline mode. Or at least it still allows you to see your calendar entries rather than giving the "404 not found" error.

If you type javascript:_olp_showPromo(); into your browser, you get prompted to install gears for calendar. It suggests you will be able to view 3 months worth of calendar entires when off line.

If you go back further, then an Apple Newton (surely the GreatGrandaddy of the NIT) would run for months on a charge. Black and white screen, and limited connectivity helped, but you never wondered...
