Re: ASUS EEE PC Walkthrough From A Grizzled Old ITT User

Hedgecore:

Actually I don't care about brand-names or operating systems. I care about functionallity and long-term stability/availability. If a system delivers what I want it's a candidate. If not...

Re: ASUS EEE PC Walkthrough From A Grizzled Old ITT User

Well, at least I don't borrow a name from a two cent character out of a third rate movie / fourth rate novel set. Neither do I praise a product "US patriot" style.

Maybe something more...

Re: ASUS EEE PC Walkthrough From A Grizzled Old ITT User

Funny, I can't do that with the tablets either unless I wear a jacket or a coat. May be due to the fact that I stopped wearing cargo pants at the same time I gave back my MG3.

Re: I'm off! Have fun with the N8x0!

Limited in-house resources and a concentration on the .NET/PHP/JAVA side of programming in our company means that a platform that supports neither of those gets left behind when/if there are other...

Re: Should future tablets include a camera?

Drop it. Makes the tablet a "no go" within quite a few company compounds. Provide a USB/BT/Firewire/Slaves shoveling bits device for attaching one for those who like it,

Re: What woud you realistically like to see in the N900?

Well guess we disagree here about realistic as well as clothing. Since realism is always based on perspective, from my PoV a lot of the things ARE realistic. And with Nokia being from the colder...

Re: I'm off! Have fun with the N8x0!

Well, one can say the same about many a Linux user... But insults aside, most "fans" here go to length showing that they can run XTerms and shells and controll other systems. That is Admin work, more...

Re: What woud you realistically like to see in the N900?

What would I like to see:

+ A slightly bigger screen (6 or 7'' maybe) with a 800x600 or 1024x768 pixel resolution. Enough to view most technical PDF, allowing me to get rid of books and/or carry...

Re: I'm off! Have fun with the N8x0!

Actually the company did give me one, they didn't ask :)

And JAVA (or .NET) is what we program here. For us it's C(++) and Phyton that "suck" guess it's to each his own.

One still hopes the...

Re: I'm off! Have fun with the N8x0!

For some the tablets work, for some they don't. I am among the latter. I do know my way around Unix but I am not a SysOp nor do I intend to become one. I wanted/needed a PIM/PDA system with some...

Re: Asus Eee review written specially for the ITT forum :)

If Nokia actually had included the Software to MAKE it a nice PDA I would even still use mine instead of my...

Re: Asus Eee review written specially for the ITT forum :)

After looking over the EEE's specs and prices we had an in-office discussion today and came to the conclusion that for a bunch of developers and/or consultics the EEE is the better system.

+ It...
