  Just restored my N900 with the backup I made before upgrading to PR1.3 and the headset still has the same problem, so I am guessing that the problem must be a bug with PR1.3.

  @bandora...I am not 100% sure it is an OS problem at the moment. I am going to uninstall the apps that I have recently installed (Hope I can remember which ones) and see if that helps.

  Atikin, are you running PR1.3? as I am not 100% certain weather I have used headset to make a call since firmware upgrade. I am pretty sure I have but now I am not so sure.

  There is an app that does this on the n900 already it's called Showtime. The only problem is it is a little bit arkward to use at first and it wotks by sending SMS messages to SKY. (Which costs £.)
