I too had the problem of no download on the maps. Thanks to a nice fellow who posted this link: http://www.navicoretech.com/Consumer.../en_GB/tablet/ I downloaded and extracted the maps from Navicore. Took the folder mapdata_USA West and pasted it to the folder "map" created on my SD card by all the failed download attempts and viola, we've got map.
