EDIT: I'll go ahead and test on a few other distros and computers I have lying around tomorrow. I'll also test with Windows and BSD if I have the time.

Ah, I think I know the problem, this is a well known
BlueZ bug.
Try this:
1 - In gnome-bluetooth select "always visible" and remove the tablet;
2 - Pair the tablet again;
3 - Connect the tablet with the HIDD command;
4 - Try to reconnect;
This works for me, I forgot this issue sorry
