Can change this by adding:
[stream]
exe = "mplayer"
group = player

Into /etc/pulse/xpolicy.conf

Though for some strange reason the mplayer package tries to put it into a nonexistant:
/usr/share/etc/pulse/xpolicy.conf or something like that.
