The way that seems to work to reset it is to remove the battery for a few minutes, then boot up again - it normally has recalibrated (if the actual hardware part has not beenknocked that is)
Keeping battery out helped!

Maybe it did not... I just got lucky to get this, after more testing and a few games it appears to be the same.

Now I get results exactly as they should be according to Nokia. Or the same as you do.
(Standing with the power button facing up : 54, -972, -162)

So maybe I am "holding it wrong", and it is all ok...
