I wouldn't buy another beta OS from nokia in the assumption that they will offer proper product support ever again..

next time I will wait for the OS to mature. ie: I will buy the 2nd or 3rd generation.

Is maemo 5 a good os.. yes appsolutely
Is maemo 5 user friendly out of the box.. appsolutely not (battery life is a joke without customising the kernel, ovi maps 1.0 on maemo is useless with out voice navigation, the fonts are only legible if you have a magnifying glass - again customisation fixes that, no spam filters 1 year after release)

It is a good device, it is a good os.. but android is better (even if the devices aren't as interfacable or as well made)

ps: isn't meego being adapted to work in mini and bmw? or aren't they actually working with nokia to develop it as a platform?

What??
My computer-savvy mother was able to use Maemo5 right from the spot.

Device fault not the OS.
My N95 was dying as fast as N900.

I don't consider Ovi Maps as a part of Maemo5 operating system.
It's a part of Ovi services add-on an OEM adds on the device by default.

User related problem.

Oh come one. Filtering SPAM is a job of your mail provider, not your mail client.

Do not agree.
Maemo5 is a great OS. But N900 using it is not so great device - as a package.

I know it's easy to put an equal sign between Maemo5 and N900, because there are no other successful Maemo5 deployments. But for this community Maemo5 != N900. (Ask N8x0 users running Mer )

A great OS, made crappy by Nokia's hardware support (binary blobs all the way to repair/service). I'll wait to see what anyone ELSE does with MeeGo. Even with binary blobs, anyone else HAS to do a better job than Nokia has a track record of doing so far.

1. No. No Nokia anymore in my life
2. I do believe in MeeGo because of Inter
3. Don't care
4. Nokia doesn't matter.

After I hit the Nokia's relation to customer I was shoked. After Anssi Vanjoki's article I said "Ok, they'd realized what they did wrong, give them a chance".
And the PR department in face of Niklas came out to light with EPIC FAIL and this time I releaized: they don't count us as a loyal customer, they looking for a different market, they are looking for a customer they can ****.

IIRC they started marketing it as "first MeeGo phone" before canceling.
