Pinging repository.maemo.org answer:
"--- repository.maemo.org ping statistics ---
12 packets transmitted, 12 received, 0% packet loss, time 11018ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 55.110/60.164/70.989/4.097 ms"

So why repository itself does not work?

Juiceme suspected there is a hardware failure on one of 8 servers. Booting them did not help to fix it. Not sure when it will be fixed.

I downloaded the install file for Extras Fremantle 1.3. The "dist=" entry is missing. After adding it, I installed the Extras mirror. An error message appears that says:

.../dists/fremantle-1.3/free/binary-armel/Packages and
.../dists/fremantle-1.3/non-free/binary-armel/Packages
301 Moved permanently

I then tried to download the packages file in Firefox. It didn't work as it should; it downloaded an HTML file named S5JYjY_z.html. The contents of the file are correct, but the name isn't.

@viniciuspaes
I noticed that in the "dists" folder, all files without a file extension are displayed as folders by Apache, but the "Release" file in the "extras" folder is not. This file retains its name when downloaded, while the others do not.

When downloading from the Internet Archive using the wayback-machine-downloader, I had the problem that the files without extensions were not downloaded at all, but a folder with the corresponding file name was created. I had to download these files manually afterwards.

In this case, however, the files are there with their contents, but are still displayed as folders, albeit only in the "dists" folder.

Perhaps the "dists" folder is specially configured? I'm not really familiar with this, but I found this while searching:

https://superuser.com/questions/3376...out-extensions

You could also delete all index.html files automatically created by wayback-machine-downloader (rm -r index.html).

Hi everyone!

With the goal of helping preserve the Maemo legacy and making resources more accessible for those who still use or study these devices, I’ve set up some pages on my server with various important files related to the Nokia 770/N800/N900 and the Maemo platform.

Here’s what I’ve made available:

Mirror of repository.maemo.org: http://maemo.viniciuspaes.com/

Various firmware files: http://maemo.viniciuspaes.com/firmware/

Flasher tools: http://maemo.viniciuspaes.com/flasher/

Compiled software and development environment: http://maemo.viniciuspaes.com/development/

Mirror of scratchbox.org: http://scratchbox.viniciuspaes.com/

Mirror of catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com: http://catalogue.viniciuspaes.com/

Unfortunately, due to disk space limitations (500 GB), I couldn’t include absolutely everything I wanted, but I’m planning to increase the server’s storage soon (prime day) to expand the mirror further.

Most of the files were retrieved through the Internet Archive (Wayback Machine). During this process, I encountered some encoding issues, mainly where the "+" character was replaced by a space " ". This problem was particularly common when setting up the development environment with Scratchbox, but I managed to fix the dependencies manually and successfully set up an environment for the N800/Diablo.

Additionally, I contacted the company that hosts the maemo.org server (info@iphh.net). They informed me that the server is colocated, meaning it’s a physical Maemo-owned server housed in their infrastructure. It seems there was likely a hardware issue, but they said they would notify the responsible parties and forward my contact information to them.

I only own a Nokia N800 — I don’t have a Nokia 770 or N900. If anyone with these devices is willing to test the mirror and confirm that everything works properly, I’d really appreciate it!

I hope this mirror can be useful to the community. Feel free to suggest improvements or point out important files that are still missing!

@rasmarc: I'll see if it's feasible to perform the manual download, the ideal would be to have contact with the person responsible for the server to perform a backup with rsync.

Cheers!
