Hi,

I was in a Super 8 hotel in US last week. When I was connected to the WiFi, a shared folder appears on my N900 device.

How is it possible? Is there a Samba client or something like this install by default on this smartphone ? How the Access Point tell to the smartphone to automatically mount it? Is there no security issue about this kind of configuration?

Best Regards,
Flo

There was a computer with HomeGroup enabled.

When I connect @ my home Wi-Fi, I can see all my laptops, with Windows8 and HomeGroup active, and also stream files in real-time!

Shared folder is not mounted, it's just a network folder you can use to dump/take out files so no harm can be done to your device! As for security, if the network is local and private like mine, i set up the sharing without any password. If I would share on a public network, I would add a password to that shared folder. That guy maybe had the sharing on and the password off and he didn't realise it.
