Hello all. I just picked up a brand new unit from Amazon, and I really dig the device, but as evidenced by the title, I've got a few questions.

I can't get the camera to work. I've yet to try video chat, but if I go into the Menu>Extras, the Camera is not in there. I see the games and Get Started, but no Camera option.

Know any good super long lasting batteries? I can get about 4 hours of use, and I would like to get it closer to 6 or 7 hours.

Know some free GPS programs? I think this question has been answered before, but I couldn't find the thread.

Thanks.

Howdy! Enjoy the tablet!

I gave up on the camera pretty quickly --- both for video and just image capture. But there is a camera program floating around --- I think it's in the maemo extras repository.

For GPS, maemo-mapper rocks. It should also be in Maemo extras, or just install it from the browser on the tablet here.

If you haven't already, go into Settings->Application Manager->[menu]Tools...->Application Catalog, select maemo Extras, and make sure it's enabled. There's a lot of good stuff there.

Can't comment much on the battery front --- there are posts here about people using extended batteries from Mugen, but I've not done so personally... short of a transcontinental plane flight, the battery does really well for me. If you're in the car or at a a desk a lot, a car or USB-cable charger is a nice accessory so you can top it up.

check the application manager for the camera app.

maemo mapper is the best free mapping app. it can use multiple map servers, including google's.

there's a battery company called mugen (? i think, someone will correct if i am wrong).. search these forums

btw, google utfse (lol) you could have found this all out without waiting.

/usr/bin/camera was on my n810 out of the box. It seems like a finished app. Anyone know why there's no menu entry for it?

Hey guys, still loving it. I checked the Application manager, and it didn't show the camera at all. Is there a way to download the app from this or Nokia's site?

Which application catalogues (repositories) do you have installed? Extras would be a good start...
And there's http://maemo.org/downloads/
