Can you charge the N810 via the USB cable that comes with it or do I need to buy the USB charger? I was trying to find out through google, and all I got was sites that sold this part: http://www.eforcity.com/short-usb-ch...kn90xusb1.html

Thanks!

Unfortunately it can't charge via USB.
You will need an adapter like the one you linked.

I found a Nokia CA-100 on eBay for 1.00 + 5.95 shipping a few weeks back and a quick looks shows similar deals still around. If the one I eceived is a knock-off, I can't tell since the molded plastic says Nokia and the label says CA-100... either way it works fine for me.

Hmm. I don't see the N810 listed as being compatible in the auctions I've found.

*edit* Never mind. I found on the Nokia website that it's compatible with "any nokia phone with a 2mm plug" (http://maps.nokia.com/link?cid=EDITORIAL_182803)

Ordering off ebay to save money, thanks!

Hmm, I didn't know a multi-tip thing existed. Oh well. I'm not all concerned about charging my LG phone anyway while I'm in the UK...it won't work!

I also use the Nokia CA-100 usb charging cable. Works great for me. I believe I got it on Amazon (i think).

so, the CA-100 I ordered off ebay which was a knock off doesn't seem to work. I've emailed the seller about possibly returning it, but in the meantime should I order this one instead? http://www.obostore.com/phone-access.../prod_543.html

I also have what I believe is a knock-off CA-100, but the last one I bought came packaged in a Nokia bubble package - pretty good if it was a knock-off.

Have you tried various USB power sources? In my experience charging the tablet from USB can be hit or miss depending on how much current the USB port is putting out. I think the Nokia charger puts out about 700 mA, and the max a USB port can put out is 500 mA, but that is not a hard and fast rule. I have had mixed success in using the CA-100 - from my work desktop, it works fine, and from another desktop I have at home, it does not. I believe that charging from completely dead require more current than if its just a top up - but that is my own emperical observation.

It wasn't dead, maybe about halfway charged. I tried it on both computers in my house (both laptops) as well as via my USB hub on my desktop and no luck with it. I'm thinking of ordering the minisych off boxwave. It's pricier than what I had wanted to spend, but if it will work and get to me before I leave for the UK, that makes me happy!
