I want to update the OS on an N800 from 2007 to the lastest Diablo. Question: If I first intall a .deb file named "Rx-34_DIABLO_4[1].2008.23-14_PR_COMBINED_MRO_ARM.bin" from my SD memory card, will further updates be done "over-the-air" ?

Hmm, that isn't a deb and, as such, that image has to be flashed to your N800 from a computer. But, yes, once flashed, you should be able to use SSU to update the N800 to the latest Diablo from the Application Manager.

So, will I then use USB cable and flash my N800 from that binary file on my desktop ?

Yep. Although, you may as well flash the latest version in one go instead of flashing and then updating. http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_t...ng_your_tablet has the links to get the latest version of the image.
