I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 a lot more than Windows now, but I was wondering, if i have my wlan on and connected to a hotspot/router, will other computers on that same network be able to access my files, media, shared folder and or make changes to my computer? If so, how can I block this?

File sharing: only if you've activated it. You can also password protect your file shares
Settings: no, not unless you're using abc123 as a password.
