Same here, and when working with multiple browser windows matchbox goes crazy 'til clicking the menu bar. It tries to switch windows indefinitely...
Due to the fact that it was an upgrade selectable from the blue pill mode, it is a REALLY serious issue that Nokia should repair asap...
Any clue to revert to previous situation?

I threw in the towel and reinstalled 2007.4. It really sucked, had to reinstall everything .

But there needs to be another solution, i suggest ppl keep trying to figure out what happened.

What happened was this: You installed Developer preview/Beta software. Sh1t happens, it's part of the contract.

Milhouse,

pls consider the fact that the upgrade was listed in blue pill mode, too, i double checked it BEFORE installing it, just to be sure not to damage my production tablet. Unfortunately, my official production 770 suffered a WSOD two weeks ago after more than a year of service (but here in Europe we have two years of warranty, I'm waiting for it to come back again) and the 'developer/beta/hacked' N800 became temporarily the production one.

The software was not addressed as developer or beta, and something similar should never happen! I consider myself a rather advanced user (linux user since 1999), but now I am really strict with my spare time and no time left to play with dpkg and dependencies, so was hoping for a quick response from the forum to revert to previous situation...

Which way do you think is the best to evidence this fact, qgil or bugzilla or... ?

I'd only like to point out that I am not complaining, but these kind of things are the one who still brings down the appeal if ITs. It's really a pity, after last firmware update the N800 is a shiny companion. I can bring with me everywhere while working:
-my calendar
-my contacts (lot of work to carry on, though)
-a SIP/Skype terminal
-my accounts
-a full featured worksheet as gnumeric
-...and last a nice browser to read newspapers and forums :-)

It's one of the best piece of tech I ever bought.

Back on topic...

I decided to try something and instead trying to revert the situation, decided to look at if were updates in other packages perhaps related.

What I did:

-activate red pill mode (matrix in the repository name field, then hit cancel, then select the pill desired)
-updated other packages that seemed related to browser eal:
- osso-browser-opera-eal
- tablet-browser-ui
- tablet-browser-default-plugin
-deactivate red pill mode (opposite as beore)

everything seems working fine, now.

For unexperienced users: I REALLY discourage you trying to upgrade the system downloading and installing the magic:sys package (uh, looks like a try to upgrade w/o flashing?), I don't know what could happen if you try that...

An (also unofficial) Nokia voice about that?

hehe, never seen anything about the new microb, and suddenly, after hitting some times the 'search' button, a new world opened in front of my face. Installing it now, just to play with it, but time to go working again, now..l

jurop88 - actually I was replying to steelmaverick who seemed a bit p1ssed off.

I must say that I have assumed both steelmaverick (and possibly yourself) have installed the Mozilla browser, as this would explain why App Manager is offering tablet-browser-controls and browser-eal for update.

If neither of you has installed the Mozilla (Microb) browser then yes, the fact that browser-eal etc. is being offered for update is quite bad as it's possible it may stuff up your device (and I apologise unreservedly).

However if the Mozilla browser has been installed on your device (or PC - you mention Matchbox) then I stand by my original comment.

It had been my case, two packages had been offered for update BEFORE installing the mozilla browser. I discovered microb looking to solve some problems (specifically the windows manager getting crazy stucked in an attempt to switch windows while using multiple opera istances) caused by the upgrade.

NOW you can stand with your original comment...
Do you think it's the case to file a bug against the fact that some files should not be proposed for an update in blue pill mode? I read something about that in the mailing list

Yes, that does sound like a potential bug.
