Do you have Kmail working with Gmail? I tried to set up an IMAP account tonight and it doesn't work for me. I'd at least like to know that it is working for you. If you have the time I'd love to know what you used for your settings. I used those listed on Gmail's help pages under IMAP settings. Maybe one problem I'm having is Kmail asked me to give it a Kwallet password to store the passwords and I didn't know what to use for that so I used the alternative. ( forget what that was called.)

Thanks,
Neil

More to the point, is Kmail working anywhere? Apparently it can receive but not send.
Folks are looking into it, but Penguinbait's about to get his wisdom teeth pulled.
Me, I don't do email from the tablet, except the occasional webmail.

Missing some dependency? Try looking for sasl libraries. They are responsible for KMail logging to accounts. Eg. libsasl2-plug-plain and libsasl2-plug-login for basic forms of authentication. On my desktop system they are residing in /usr/lib/sasl2 directory.

Edit: forgot to add: they are runtime dependencies, no need to recompile KDE-PIM.

As I recently discovered it is not working, It will recieve email if the server supports "clear text" which you probably dont want to use anyway.

Sorry I just discovered this yesterday. I am trying to figure out how to fix it....

Sorry for the inconvenience!!!!!!!

Has anyone tried modeest yet? Wonder if it runs under KDE?

I'll keep you posted, if I can get it working I'll roll it out in the next deb update...

So what did xterm say when you did this? What do you think I'm doing wrong? Neil

Make very sure you are root first.

After the sudo su, type

Code:
whoami
If it says root, that's ok.

After that cd to /usr/local/lib/
and check that the sasl2 directory
exists. Maybe it does not, in which
case your kde installation is corrupted.

If so, reinstall would probably be the
easiest thing to do.

It says I am root. After that I don't know what you mean by cd but no matter what I put in at that point it says : no such file or directory , so apparently I have a corrupted KDE install?
