I've been using the Nokia N800's Clock "Alarm" feature and I keep the tablet turned on 99.9% of the time. But today I turned it off and I was amazed to find out that my alarms still alerted me.

I think this is pretty cool!

I wonder how Nokia accomplishes this while the unit is in the "off" state?

There are different levels of off, the power key is only a software thing

Did the device boot to the maemo desktop when the alarm went off, or did it display a basic screen like the charging screen you get when the machine is switched off and charging?

Hi there,
yeah, that is one of the TOPS of nearly any NOKIA device.
What i found also out and i realy love is the fact that the
battery lasts for more then ond day with WiFi turned on !!!!

I once made a mojocafe.net widget showing a simple clock
with an alarm function.
As the mojocafe is only a website, i had to keep the device
turned on the whole night showing me the clock. but guess
what: early in the morning the widget-alarm started and the
battery was still more then half full.

THAT ROCKS!
I luv ma n800

The alarm going off even when turned off is cool, except when you forget that it does that and you turned off the sound, and end up eating half your battery because of it. I had that happen to me.

Its he coolest feature - true, except when you forget it does that and actually shut off the N810 to sleep late on a weekend and still it wakes you up at rooster time. Then you feel like smashing the damn thing :-)

You need to remember to delete the aralm itself and not shut shut off the machine.

That sounds like a bug or a feature, not sure which...
