Is there any hope for this? I have Kismet working but that's kind of extreme just to find an AP. Something like netstumbler or (dare I hope?) Wellenreiter would be fantastic.

I just wondered if there exists some small applet which checks, say, all 15s whether it can find an open wlan and "do something" (play a beep,...) in that case. It would be nice if you are new to a city and don't know where you will find a cafe with free wireless which might be across the street but you simply don't see it... And I don't want to run kismet for this all the time.
