I'm about to buy my first memory card for my N810 and am looking for some insight into;

- any particular brand I should avoid/try to get?

- I see that mem cards come in different 'types' like 3, 4, etc. What should I get?
- I want a card for three reasons;
- store maps for gps;
- store music and video files,
- installing and trying out Mer/Android

- I believe I need an 'adapter' for the Micro SD cards, do they all come with one?

With that in mind...what would be the best option with a budget at around $40?

Thanks in advance, sorry for what may be repeat questions though.

I got the 8GB Kingston from Newegg for $25. It comes with adapters to fit the microSD into miniSD (which the N810 uses) and regular SD slots. It also has a USB reader for the microSD card. It's a class 4. I've had it for 3 months and I'm happy with it.

I bought a unbranded 16GB microsd card from play.com in the UK. Works just great. I would say that anything will work fine, so long as you buy from a reputable retailer. buying an absurdly cheap card from some faceless person in HongKong over Ebay will probably end in tears due to the number of fakes.

Forgot to order a mini-microsd adaptor, and spent ages looking for one, so make sue you order one at the time!

Oh, the card cost about £30 UKP which I thought was competitive.

I bought a SanDisk 8GB Class 2 microSDHC with miniSD adapter on eBay for $21 from this seller. Looks like 16GB is still more than $40.

Do make sure you get one with a miniSD adapter.

I get the impression that the speed class is not very important in the NIT context, that it applies more to cameras where write speed is critical, but someone please correct if I'm mistaken.

HTH.

This looks pretty good. I really like the USB-adapter that would make it easy to manage the data/media files on it using a laptop w/out involving a card-reader or the tablet itself. I didn't see a 16gb with the same kit though. Going back and forth on 8 or 16 gig...
