Recently I have been interested in the N810 device but still have some reservations about it and I wanted some feedback from experienced users of this device.

1. I was wondering if there is any software that allows me to stream videos from my PC to the N810 over a router.

2. Is there internal speaker loud?

3. Can the GPS be used for turn by turn directions?

4. Is running Android on this device a replacement or just more of a demonstration of its possibility?

5. What is the typical battery life in real usage.

Also, if you could mention any other important info that might be helpful in deciding whether or not to get one. Thanks.

I can only answer a couple of your questions.
1. Orb works, and other programs can also stream video.
5. Depending on what you are doing you can go all day.

I'll answer what I can as well.

Are the internal speakers loud?
Yes, but it also depends on other factors like the media source itself, but I have been satisfied with them.

Can the GPS be used for turn by turn directions?
I have only really used the Wayfinder (maps) application and it does turn by turn and voice, but to use it beyond the 7 day trial period there will be a cost for it.

What is the typical battery life in real usage?
On my N810 I see about 5 - 7 hours on a full charge, this is continuous useage. The battery is something I have always enjoyed about my n810. Although bluetooth will drain the hell out of your device!

YES

2. Is there internal speaker loud?

¿Do you mean if the speakers are loud?

They're pretty loud, not like radio loud but louder than a cellphone.

3. Can the GPS be used for turn by turn directions?

I do not use GPS

4. Is running Android on this device a replacement or just more of a demonstration of its possibility?

I'd say it is a demonstration. Maemo is a stable robust operating system.

5. What is the typical battery life in real usage.

I have an N800, and with Wifi and Bluetooth turned on, I have been for about 4 hours straight.

Without Wifi or Bluetooth is practically days, almost a week I have had it turned on without losing it's full battery power.

Also, if you could mention any other important info that might be helpful in deciding whether or not to get one. Thanks.

Depends on what do you need... if you consider yourself a heavy internet user that needs some videochat, rss, a full browser, SIP, Skype, streaming, blogging, etc. the answer is YES.

If not:

You can compare...

Any streaming software will do. (I like to listen to last.fm when im reading in bed )

Yes, but it depends on the definition of "loud". The quality is amazing though (although it lacks good bass levels, due to size limitations). Nevertheless it's on par with my much larger radio clock speaker

Yes, although the internal GPS chip is not very sensitive (poor choice of hardware by Nokia, imho) and a satellite fix sometimes takes ages. Most people prefer to use external GPS receivers with SiRF III chips connected via bluetooth to the tablet.
I use it as a navagation device in my car, but with Maemo Mapper which doesnt really offer turn by turn navigation (but the route mode with waypoint announcements works just as well )

From what i saw it could work as a replcement, given that you have continuous connection to the intertubes. Android is totally focussed on the webbased stuff, so for offline usage maemo is probably the better choice (not to mention that it "knows" which hardware it runs on and makes better use of it)

4 hours with wifi and continuos working, several days when in offline mode and only used occasionally as media player and for other small stuff.
In any case it's battery life is FAR better that that of an iPhone and even of most of the netbooks.

Addional PROs:
- the best screen I ever have seen in a device of that size! You will have a hard time trying to make out single pixels.
- enough power to play videos in mplayer
- some pretty advanced media center softwares (i.e. canola2)
- its a linux system, you have access to the system and can do a lot with it, not to mention that there are lots of people developing stuff for it.
- as already mentioned: it's a gps device, media player, mobile computer, e-book reader..... all in one.
- dosbox! play old dos games on it!
- it has a native "doom" port (and i think quake and quake 2, too)
- GPE is a pretty advanced PIM suite
- generally there's lots of useful software for it
The only real competitor in terms of size and usefulness is the iPhone. The N810 doesnt have the phone part, but much better battery life, a slide out keyboard and is MUCH cheaper

CONs:
- the camera is horrible
- the GPS chip is not so good
- the only usb port is hidden behind the stand thingy when it's "closed" (srsly, wtf?)
- PIM synchronization currently only really works with Google Calendar (which i dont use)
Those are the main drawbacks for me, other people might have different opinions on the matter

I'd like to echo and thank branitar on all his comments. I've owned a Nokia 770 and N810. I now own a Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition. His Q&A and Pros & Cons are entirely correct.

Compared to my Garmin nuvi 765t, the turn-by-turn directions, voice, and GPS acquisitions of the Nokia N810 isn't all that. It's serviceable, but the GPS takes a long time to acquire a satellite lock and the voice isn't nearly as loud as a commercial GPS.

Compared to my Dash Express, the routing and turn-by-turn directions of the Nokia N810 running WayFinder are far superior. There are MUCH worse GPS systems and softwares than what people experience with the Nokia N810. The Nokia N810 is decent but not great when used as a GPS.

I've been getting 3-6 hours between charges on my Nokia N810 WiMAX when using WiFi, WiMAX, GPS, and heavy internet usage (streaming audio, video, web, chats). I'm considering upgrading to the 3600mAh battery in:
