Hello all,
I 've got a problem with Ovi maps and the built-in GPS sensor. i've used this before and was quite pleased with the accuracy of the GPS sensor which positioned me spot-on in front of the right house of a street while walking and followed my routes by car, train or bus correctly.

But now, even with an established network connection (UMTS or wi-fi), the GPS is always listed as with "low accuracy" ("Grobe Genauigkeit", my German-language UI says), and the accuracy has indeed gone way downhill. Even while walking, the sensor is off by one to ten blocks (50 to 500 metres), plus it my position is updated very infrequently, only every 200 to 500 metres as opposed to continuously like it did before).

To my knowledge, I haven't changed any relevant settings, though I'm not entirely sure whether the last update (PR1.1.1) came before or after the problems started. As it is now, the GPS sensor is pretty much unusable.

Does anybody have any idea what might have happened? Can anyone give me any pointers as to how to find out or get closer to the source of the problem? Any help ist very much appreciated.

Greetings, Hes.

Was the inaccuracy temporary?

I've heard that GPS can be blurred by the military - probably not in this case (just throwing the idea out there).

Hello again,
AFAIK the jam option by the military is for emergency use only, and I'm having GPS problems for at least ten days now. I seriously doubt they would jam the signal for all of Northern Germany for that long unless armageddon is nigh.

Greetings, Hes.
