A way to disable proximity sensor when talking?

The proximity sensor switches off the screen when I talk, but it works pretty lousy, I guess there's dirt on the sensor. I almost can never end a call, it takes a while for the screen to show again.

Is there a way to disable this?

I tried this but it doesn't change anything.

    Thanks

You can try to set no read permissions on the proximity file

    Code:
    /sys/devices/platform/gpio-switch/proximity/state
afaik phone app is using this way to get the proximity state.

[EDIT] Forget it, sysf doesn't like permissions.

i notice the sensor being lousy too, is this a hardware issue or software issue? I really hope its a software fix. i really like this phone and i hope the bugs can be weeded out and apps be added real soon.

    Hi Guys,

I notice the proximity sensor does not work under fluorescent lights.
You could try the phone function with a Energy Saving light.

I think it's a software problem by reading the topic below:

mine is not perfectly working fine. if I expoae phone to light its screen gets darker and its keyboard lights up. which is primary function of proximity sensor. still when I receive a call phone screen goes black opposite to normal sets in which a blak screen lights up on incoming call

Try sliding the lockswitch (or even opening the keyboard) to show the screen, then you can end the call.

Also the proximity sensor is not the same as the light sensor.
