http://www.nokia.com.au/support/down...nload#download

Nokia PC Suite will allow sync of messages, contacts and other information (its configurable).

Personally, I don't send messages to user's emails answering questions. Its better to have the answer available to all, in case someone else requests it and does a search.

Edit: I should mention that you can also extract the database from the N900, but the Nokia PC Suite method is easier. If you wish to extract the database its at /home/user/.rtcomm-eventlogger called el-v1.db (I think...)

..or just use the built-in Backup utility, or export from the menu in Conversations?

Sorry, I made a mistake there. The export is for contacts, not conversations. This coupled with the Backup tool allows for everything message-based to be copied across to the PC though.
