Hi Guys and gals,

I would like to check if my new n900 seems normal to you. I thing i remember getting my first new one(it had a charging problem lol) from a ebay seller so i sent it back and received a "new one" back after like a 2 week wait. Anyways the stickers look in the correct places but what concerns me is the Port is like a white colour where my original (now a dud that cant charge ) is a black colour and it just seems very aftermarket looking after close inspection.

Could you guys let me know if this appears to be a aftermarket fit or is this the latest released version of it. Pictures are as below. BTW it does charge but i want oem quality not aftermarket used s*** it's definitely not what i payed for.

Sorry for the crap images i tried my best but the camera was on low battery and is of crappy quality

A final point is their a manufacture date command i can use on it like other nokias? Many Thanks,

Yeah, that's definitely aftermarket. No Nokia phone has a white micro usb port.

Is their a manufacturer command? I've checked the IMEI and it's out of hong kong warranty so it's over a year old

Looks like those newer 'rounded' microUSB sockets. (The N8, I believe, has a microUSB socket like that). Meh. At the end of the day, it's a USB port, and it MIGHT just be a USB port less likely to "fall out", vs some of the normal ones.

Or not. *Shrug* I've never seen or heard of an N900 with a port like that that was in its original form, but on the other hand that looks rather well built-in.

Anyway, at the end of the day, if it works, and it works indistinguishably well from the original, what other measure of quality can you give it, really? USB ports are a cheap commodity - there isn't much leeway you can get in terms of quality as far as that goes, and if you ask the N900 owners who lost their USB ports, I think they'd encourage you to reconsider your faith in OEM quality.

Hey parralegendd

Tell me how did your other phone not charging anymore? Do you know what happen? Because I am having the same problem with my phone and I am not sure if it is my battery or the battery charging program or an app which is causing problem... Do you have any clues about this problem?

Cheers mate.

I have two (genuine) N900's and both of them have the same port as the top phone in your first pic... can't really tell much from your other pics.

The lower one looks like an HTC extUSB port.

Funny thing is mate working with computers and all i get curious about this stuff when it suddenly dies. I had a mobile repairer rip me off to look at it then i took it to a electronics specialist that work with this sort of equipment day in day out and he said it was fine.

My suggestion is try buy a completly new battery and charger and test it out, as when i tried the spare battery that came with my new new phone it worked and my old phone is now 100% usabe no matter what charger or usb cable i use. Brilliant product but does your head in.
