What annoys me is that the UI must be 'shopped in. Nothing Nokia ever produced was that smooth and responsive. Have you seen that baby? Reminds me of N900 commercials where people just drag video over twitter over browser over notes. Yeah. We all know how that goes on a 600 MHz.
This device will never go on sale ask @zehjotkah he said its only for developers, there is second device coming for end users
EDIT: so get your arses to MeeGo Conf b/c thats probably reason why they needed FCC clearance to give them out there to participants in US.
Umm, need for clarification here.
I said there will be a device for devs and there will be a device for consumers, yes.
I never said that the device we see in the teaser (let's just call it N9, okay?) is the developer device, or that the consumer device won't have a keyboard.
Maybe it could be helpful to think about the N900. There was a dev device as well. If I remember correctly lcuk was one of the guys having a really early dev N900.
Then there were about 400 dev N900; 100 sent out to selected devs, 300 distributed at the maemo conference.
Think a while about it and then the world won't look so unfair anymore...
Well, this confirms that it's a 4-row keyboard. The left-down-right cursor buttons have to be below the up button. And what is that slot on the side? It doesn't look like a micro-USB, and they wouldn't put a micro-SD slot there, and it's too big for a microphone...
Why releasing an Harmattan device when Nokia bets on Microsoft?
- it was in the pipeline already
- it is an amazing device which will polish Nokias brand image (think about called as "Smartphone of the year 2011" or similar)
- maemo/MeeGo is part of "future disruptions" branch
- in future disruptions, technology will be researched which could change the whole market, think about Motorola RAZR, iPad and so on.
- Qt: Qt is still a huge part of Nokia and Nokia will also bet on Qt in the future (not on WinPhone, though)
- there are plans to switch over to MeeGo proper (which will get a firmware update every six month) but I don't know if there is a decision already
I hate all this speculation.. But i'm going to be really pissed if people who go to the meego conference can have this phone months before consumers.. that just doesn't make sense to me.. just let me buy the f*ing thing...

Lol after this long of waiting this device i would be ready to pay pretty much anything to get it.
If the dev story is true(i do believe it is) i hope the consumer device wont have 15 months of head hurting rumors, more like announced in 2 weeks time.

So developers devices will be available in numbers like 400 in total? One can forget about it then. So what's the expected differences between the developers and consumers device then, besides the point whether consumers one comes with or without a hw keyboard?
Pre-release firmware is one difference between developer devices and consumer ones. The N900 I received in Amsterdam was (physically) the same as the consumer device, but with pre-release firmware.
