forgot to mention the search function still needs you to be online. However you can either set up a dummy connection, or an adhoc connected to nothing, and get around this requirement
You can stop/start the internet connection daemon, preventing network access at all. Would this work with Ovi Maps? If so, you could setup some QBC widgets to quickly do the start/stop commands for you...
The python server will need to be modified. Open it on your computer or N900 (using leadfpad) and edit one of the lines to point to where your new language is located. The line will have the old location (/home/user/MyDocs/navigation_sounds/english_us or something similar). Also make sure you use the same slashes / or \.
I check in the server the location is right but no word.
I tried and I modify the server putting the italian language location after to have installed the zip file but no resoults. The only think I have made just before it stopto talk was playing a bit with the e speak gui.

Message in English also if server was pointing to italian language, I will try later on the road what happen
Everything else works fine: Navigation, choosing and testing the voices in omvoiceserver, poi search, and the log shows the voice nav commands being sent to omvs, but it just doesn't speak to me
Anyway, thanks for the great work, this will hopefully be very usefull for my next visit to spain!

it seems to be an issue with different config files of the language. it didn't work on my system either. i'm using a german_male voice (will try to find the link were i got it after this sending this post) with no problem, but there is only one config.xml file in the main folder.
@ Blaizzen, is there a way to get other versions(?) of language files to work, in this case are the following files in the main folder:
common.lua
config.lua
skin_german_female.lua
(instead of the config.xml file)
the omvs log shows that the config.xml file was loaded, but there is not such a file.
hi people
do you know if android 2.1 runs faster than 2.2 or 2.3.4.
because the 2.3.4 runs slow and takes too much battery and hangs often.
i didnt own the N900 when the 2.1 was ported so i only installed Gingerbread and froyo.
And they are too slow compared with the galaxy s.
Do you know if android 2.1 did run faster on the n900 than 2.3.4?
thank you.
I have a problem with maps. For some odd reason, it won't search the addresses that I enter. This used to happen before I found out that the OMServer had to be running. But, it is not search even when it is running. It keeps showing search is temporarily unavailable. The funny thing is if I save the address under and contact and open maps using a contact, it searches just fine. Is there something I'm missing? I have the latest power kernel (v47), if that helps. I have the latest index file from post 314. Thanks for the help in advance.
