I don't know if others are, but I am aware of this I just prefer having actual partition on my memory card. By the way, "chmod" used on a file on vfat partition will not have any effect, as vfat partitions don't store permissions for files. Anyway, thanks for pointint it out for ones that were not aware of it before

True, but it would matter for those of us not using vfat :-)

however im not able to use it still.... can you help
./startbt5 does not seem to work, why is this?
the img file was in a different location then in your example.

how do i suppose to boot into this?

If you really want to add BT5 repos to Debian, then that's your prerogative, but please don't call it BT5 or BackTrack at all. It's not BackTrack, and you're just going to confuse people like the poor soul above me.

I agree with not calling it BT, but anyway, any debian with correct set of packages was - is - and always will be better than any backtrack. Howg

Well, technically, all BackTrack is is Ubuntu with the correct set of packages ;-p

So where is this at now? I had the stock BT5 arm image up and running chrooted a few hours after release. I've been meaning to draw up a quick tut but haven't had a day off for a while.

Is there any ongoing issues I can help with? I don't have the time or patience to read through the 30 pages. I am willing to give workarounds for anything outstanding however.

HOW TO RUN BACKTRACK 5 ON THE N900

Instructions :

(Be sure you have rootsh & easy-chroot)

Put the bt5.img anywhere (eg: /home/user/Mydocs/bt5 )
you can download the image here
open Terminal
Code:
 sudo gainroot
 mkdir /mnt/bt5 
 qchroot /home/user/MyDocs/bt5/bt5.img /mnt/bt5/ 
 export USER=root
 vncpasswd (Needs to be done once for setting up a password)
 vncserver -geometry 800x470
 startvnc

ok but in this second part ,

first terminal running background
open other terminal:

sudo gainroot
cd /
cd mnt/bt5/
startvnc 127.0.0.1:5901 for example
my password

and for exit

stopvnc
exit
qumount /mnt/bt5
exit

but this steps for shutdown in first or second terminal ?
