On every upgrade I've had from Voda, I've always asked for and received the network unlock code, their view is that I am in a contract with them so it didn't matter whether or not I used their sim, they are still getting paid, on all N series phones, if you press the * key several times you get the 'p' 'w' and '+' symbols, however on the N900, this isn't the case, you can't get the 'w' symbol no matter how many times you press the * key.

Hi Sorry for the late reply, I've finally had time to try my N900 with an Orange sim and it worked fine, my Voda N900 is unlocked to all networks, so no need for that unlock code that they sent me.

This is my first post here and would appreciate a little help.

I recently obtained the network unlcode for my device from Vodafone, however I'm having problems excuting this on the on screan phone keyboard, essentially, when I try to insert the 'W' symbol having pressed the * key four times, instead of the 'w' symbol I get the 'p' symbol again. If anyone can assist me with this very minor problem I would be grateful.

Many thanks in advance

try these instructions. i think it may help you to unlock your phone.

1 - Switch on your Nokia N70 without any sim card.
2 - Don't bother as to what is displayed on your Nokia N70.
3 - Compose #pw+CODE+7#.
4 - The Nokia N70 would then display the message "SIM Restriction Off" and will be unlocked!

The letter p appears if you press the button star(*) three times quickly
The letter w appears if you press the button star(*) four times quickly
The symbol + appears if you press the button star(*) two times quickly
The CODE you need to enter is the unique unlock code for your Nokia N70

if you have any doubts or if your not still clear with the instructions you can try this site http://www.mobileunlockguide.com/ to clarify it.
