Hi,
I bought this charger and doesn't work with my N900. I've tried to plug on the cigarette lighter base the Nokia micro USB data cable (that works fine on the PC), generic unbranded cable, and Blackberry cable as well. None of them works.
Anyone knows wich cabe lead i should buy?
I would like to keep Belkin because is very small and works perfectly with other phones.
PS: Why Nokia has stopped Maemo! is the best sw I've seen on a phone!
many thanks
Roberto

For the N900 to charge, it needs to see either a short or resistance on the usb data lines.

You need to either mod the charger (if you can get it open) or a usb cable and short the data lines.

Ah OK, Demludi.
Non esiste un cavo che va bene senza fare modifiche? Ho letto di mettere un pettezzo di nastro nelle connessioni, ne sai nulla? Oppure di accorciare due pin?
Grazie
Bob

Anybody knows if shortening or connecting the pins on a laptop data cable works? Where i can find easy instructions for people like me?

Generally, the red and the black wires in the usb cable are used for power (red+, black-). Short the other two wires together and the cable should work.

The cable won't work for data transfer anymore.

What I did was take a usb extension cable, cut out the middle of it leaving about 1" on each plug end. Connected the wires back, red to red, black to black, shorted the other two wires together on the end the normal usb cable plugs into (to N900). That left me a nice short cable to use as an adapter.
