The German Wikipedia says that AbiWord 2.4.2 is optimized for the Nokia 770. Also, the AbiWord v2.4.2 ChangeLog (http://www.abisource.com/changelogs/2.4.2.phtml) says (look at Renato Filho's changes) that optimization for Nokia 770 has been done.
Only, when I try to download the AbiWord Linux version, I see <abiword-2.4.1.x86.package>, which I guess means that the Linux version is 2.4.1, not 2.4.2 (while the Windows version is 2.4.2).
Does anybody know whether a 2.4.2 Linux version of AbiWord is already out?
I just found some AbiWord 2.4.2 Linux link in the AbiWord mailing list, see http://www.abisource.com/mailinglist.../Jan/0016.html. This version seems to be for SUSE linux only. I'm not sure whether this would work on the Nokia 770, as I'm not so much into linux.
Does anybody knonw the difference between this version and the autoinstaller version of AbiWord 2.4.2 that is promised to be available soon (see the link above)? In other words, will the SUSE linux version work on the Nokia 770?
There is a 2.4.2 version from what I read. But there is no binary. You would have to compile it yourself. The latest stable binary is 2.4.1+CVS as stated.
Here's a blog for one of the people working on the AbiWord to 770 port
Tomas is one of the people hired recently by Matthew Allum at OpenedHand. Everybody should know that Matthew is in no small part responsible for the success of the Nokia 770 and that the people, like Tomas, who he's adding to the staff there will be helping Nokia to intensify the efforts to improve the 770 and its coming interations.
