unfortunately my brother has locked my N900 and he forgot the password...
so how to reset the password as it asking for "Enter Lock Code"
i restarted the N900 then also its ask for the lock code...
pls anyone help me i dont want to loose any data of my N900...
nice, I did see the --incremental option, but i never thought it'd be what i was looking for thanks a lot...now it only needed a mere 4 seconds to get to my code 7415369
i did the same but it returns 0 guesses nd terminates,, without digits it keeps on guessing.. what am i doing wrong plz help me,, my code is
Uhm, never mind, actually running the hash through john the ripper gave me my password after 7 minutes (Single core at 2.4Ghz).
So to get your password back, don't risk editing the mtd1 directly, just do this:

echo root:$(grep -A 13 lock_code /dev/mtd1|tail -1):
then put this in a file and crack it with any DES cracker... wait and enjoy :-)
As a side note (reference), this works with 1.2009.42-11.002 ... we'll see how it changes with time.
