I love this app. It has always worked pretty much as expected all the time. Would just like to highlight a "bang head against a wall" moment that I had recently.

To try to preserve battery I usually select GSM opposed to dual mode for the network connect when I'm out and about. I was under the impression that using GSM v 3G really had little effect on this sort of data transfer.

    How wrong was I?

Since getting a car kit charger I have not been concerned with battery consumption and wow - the difference?

No lag, no issues - continues playback on all my trips around the metropolis of Helsinki. Been stuck on GSM for months: what an *** :-)

Just wanted to write a short post concerning my work on porting QSpot to MeeGo. I have been able to test a very preliminary version on the MeeGo DE (SF2011) version, however there are still many issues. A major one is the UI, as it is currently optimized for Maemo5, and many elements such as the stacked windows navigation are missing from MeeGo (however, a similar concept called application page exists in the MeegoTouch framework). It might be required to completely re-work the UI for a MeeGo version.

A screenshot demonstrating the current look on MeeGo DE(without any optimizations):

There are also issues with the used openspotify library (playback not working); this could be caused by e.g., memory issues (processing of ogg-vorbis data can be quite memory demanding).

Edit: It seems that the most viable solution for porting QSpot to MeeGo would be the use of QML; so in case someone is interested in assisting with this, feel free to contact me..

Happy to hear that QSpot works well for you.. On GSM / Edge there can indeed be problems with playback (even using the low bitrate option). On 3G is should however work fine (despite the fact that streaming over 3G consumes battery quite a lot, but again that can be solved by using e.g., a car charger).

Is it possible to also create the button to the now playing screen in the search results screen. I'm talking about the bar that shows which songs is playing and with the equalizer animation

It would definitely be a nice function; it will require some changes to the library, but I will look into whether it can be easily implemented at some point.. In case the official library could be used then it would be no problem.

was there some explanation/ fix for not being able to use Qspot with home wlan? 3G is OK, but trying through 2 different wlans not connecting. Windows client works through the same wlan OK. Router is black homebox if that tells you anything (Elisa as operator on your meego demo pic...)

I have heard several times about this issue in this thread, and one poster gave a possible explanation to the problem; the library needs to query the dns record to get the required spotify server info for being able to connect, and not all dns servers support this type of lookup. Anyway I think this is a issue that needs to be looked into in more details, possibly be adding some more logging or similar.

love to see the action in this thread as well as the continues improvments of qspot. Im not sure if you have any plans for the upcoming releases. But it would be a nice feature to have the top hits from an artist, maybe simular to the biography button. Do you consider anything like that?
