There are many applications for linux.. My personal favorite is openssh.
    Code:
    ssh -D 8080 user@server

T.O.R. in Chin4 used to work a few years ago. then many of the most common nodes became blocked by the G.F.W. Then it required adding t.o.r. bridges to enable access. This is really a lot of trouble if you want free access. My suggestion is to pay for V.P.N access in a Western country. Make sure this V.P.N service is open and officially supports GNU/Linux OR gives you the raw files for configuration (e.g. CA cert, private cert + key, and TA key and the individual server ovpn/conf config files.
Install openVPN+applet in Maemo. The config files may or may not need to be modified. For my own config, I have added the following at the bottom of the configs:

    script-security 2

    up /etc/openvpn/maemo-update-resolvconf

    down /etc/openvpn/maemo-update-resolvconf

If "show-net-up" is present, I commented that out on my configs like so:
    #show-net-up

In any case, look for a provider that has many servers because the g0vt may block servers at any time.

The same VPN can be used for your full PC as well and works relatively reliably though speeds may fluctuate more than I like.

BTW don't suggest which VPNs work publicly. They are listening...

y'all might find some useful info/tools from the peacefire.org folks. i didn't see any mobile specific tools in a quick scan, but there was some info about setting up custom proxy urls for their Circumventor tool. hth!
