If you have a multimeter, cut cables and use buzzer to see which is which.

USB has pins like this: VDD, D+ D- GND. You need to short D+ and D-, which is easy because it's the middle pins however you hold it. If you can solder, you can try to put a bit of solder to short the middle pins, or use some conductive paint.

If not, strip cable in the middle, sound them to pins and short the ones that correspond to middle pins.

Do not short any other pins, you run the risk of damage (should be safe in theory, practice says no).

If you look inside a USB jack/port you will see four tracks/pins. The two center ones are the data and need to be shorted - connected to each other.



You can also cut the wires leading to them - usually green and white and short those instead.

OK very clear... I see 4 pins on the USB side and 5? on the mini USB.. I guess I need to connect the ones on the USB... I cannot see the pics sorry. Many many thanks!
