    Here we go again...

Elop has just made a quote:

This is an ignorant assertion. Android was a project started in 2005, 2 years before the iPhone (or iOS) would surface. Additionally, the Adobe Flash powered LG Prada was on the scene before the iPhone, which suggests that touch-screen mobile OSs were (at the very least) visions held by more than one group.

My second point is this: Why do people insist that the UI is the OS? The OS is the software layer that interacts with the underlying hardware. The UI is an interface for users, they really are different things. This perturbing of the definition baffles me.

If I were on the board of Nokia, I would be quite worried that my CEO is demonstrating an incredibly poor knowledge of the industry that he's trying to dominate.

As an aside: The 'Apple invented it' chant is a very strange social phenomena, and would be worthy of psychological study.

Well, it's not necessarily true that Android started earlier than iOS. Just that Android started sometime before the iOS release (I should have said purchased by Google in 2005 rather than started, android was founded as a company in 2003), which implies that the team wasn't exposed to iOS at Android's creation and was conceived by other influences.

Either way, Elop's quote is inaccurate. iOS didn't bring Android into being.

Additionally, Android is much more than the UI layer, or an OS running on ARM -- I know little about the iOS environment, but based on what I know of the exotic nature of Android, I'm betting that there are quite a few differences between them.

    More Shadowgun!

Great graphics. Not quite current gen-consoles, but not that far off either. A few more shaders, and some improved geometry and you'd have a potentially wild looking game. Of course, particle/solid-body physics is another matter entirely.

    But there's more!

It is slated to come to Tegra 2 (as we already know), but will also be available on the Android market for other devices! Maximum exposure, baby.

The Tegra 3 version will take it beyond this, and I'm very interested to see how good it will look.

Oh, and it's slated for iOS as well, in case you were wondering

Details are light, but at least it's official, which likely means that it's going to happen soon.

Boom. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 IO edition has been bumped to 3.1.

Sammy seems to be offering releases soon after the official release. I like this aggressive release attitude. +1 for the Galaxy line.

If Apple invented Android, even on the UI argument, then why was Apple's WWDC conference touting the incredible drop-down notification bar, cloud services and computer-less updates and all those things that Android's been doing for years? Just saying--even on his own level of debate, he's incredibly wrong.

Welcome to the club! This is a far more optimistic crowd here and we're seeing tons of new stuff and progress all the time here so--WELCOME! Be sure to pop into Facebook sometime and join the "Droid Fans" group, where I tend to make most of my postings/comments outside of Maemo.

And when it comes to Canada, it's as good as here in the U.S.A., too! So--GREAT NEWS!
