Btw. lack of flash(if people means "flashplayer") shouldnt be a problem if there is a good mediaplayer...

The rest of flash will soon die anyway no one want to use it except some old lazy coders and Adobe who doesn't want to learn new API:s.
Exactly what I wanted to hear, if this no-flash decision goes on with a good mediaplayer, being able to play those embedded flash videos when needed then I can live with it.

Not really back. Just wanted to see what the response was in these forums... sorta an odd mix.

To be honest, I'm struggling slightly with the OMAP 3630 1ghz decision, however I wouldn't regard it as a Fisher Price toy just because it's made from polycarbonate (read: plastic).

I will buy one. They delivered on other fronts that I cannot deny that are very important to me... namely RAM (1gb). I'm agnostic to a keyboard, just need to hear about Google Voice integration - I use that for free SMS's in the US. The convex AMOLED screen/curved glass feature is better than the Nexus S concave feature, imho. So that's a plus.

The negativity surrounding no hwkb, buy an bluetooth one. Don't like the plastic? The N900 had a plastic screen (or at least something terribly easy to scratch). And this is a big step forward, especially since it's looking like the Harmattan UI is being opened up.

I'd love to dev on this, just to see/learn if it's a viable platform for me. Already on Android and iOS, evaluating WP7 right now.

So what do I think? Nokia has shown me that they're still innovative. That's a damn good thing.

    Back to disappearing...

As far as user replaceable battery goes: please note the long thread about broken usb ports on the n900. One cause of this is that users are always charging via the usb port rather than swapping batteries. And I guess I'm the only one who has noticed my battery is about to run out as I'm leaving the house and I would prefer to spend ten seconds changing batteries to several hours waiting for my phone to charge? And when the battery wears out, I'm the only one who would rather not send my device back to the manufacturer for repair?

550€ for the 64GB version sounds about right.

You must have forgotten that half the procedures describing how to upgrade/fix problems with the N900 as well as a lot of other phones, come with the line

    3) Remove the battery.

Personally I've had to remove the battery on my phone at least ten times the last week. I worry. Holding the power button for 8/10 seconds is fine when it works, but not so fine when it doesn't work.

Furthermore, the inability to replace a worn out battery or to switch batteries on a GPS-intensive hike is a REALLY bad step backwards, and nobody but marketing people would ever defend that way to go. Not even product designers.

This product is a step back in several ways. There's no way around that.

No, the one and only reason for it is that the build-quality of the USB port sucks.

It's a bit ridiculous to say that you can save your USB port from falling out by switching batteries rather than charging the phone.

I think you overestimate how many normal users even have a spare battery. At least I don't have one, but I could need one now, because the USB port has broken... Screw that, N9 all the way.

The USB port on the N9 looks extremely solid by the way, it doesn't make me nervous to put some strain on it.
