My n800, running OS 2007 (latest available from Nokia) has twice rebooted and froze at the Nokia screen (white with images of hands) within the last month (all the longer I have had it). Is there a reason for this and is it normal for this to happen from time to time? Would enabling the Swap help?
Both times I have had to take the battery out and reinsert it to recover from it. Both times also occurred right after what I would consider doing intensive (in my opinion) activities. The first was right after downloading 1000+ emails. The second was after downloading and installing Python 2.5.
My next question is: Is there any other way to reboot in this situation other than removing/reinserting the battery?
I don't know of any other way to reboot if it is frozen... battery removal seems like the only way.
When I was running OS2007 I had a few spontaneous reboots too. Never could track them down, but I had installed a lot of apps. And when it was rebooting it would sometimes take between 1-2 minutes to get to the Hands screen... mine would seem "stuck" at the white Nokia screen.
If you're getting to the Hands screen, there should be a progress bar that starts going across the bottom, did you notice how far it got? Next time it happens, I'd give it like 5 minutes to see if it is going to finally move on. In my case it seems there was something going on in the background, even though it looked frozen.
p.s. Since I upgraded to OS2008 I have had apps crash, but never the whole tablet (yet).

Thanks for any information you can provide!
